My 2022 iPad Pro 11" arrived today and I started trying to transfer everything from my 9.7" which was running 16.6.1. No dice, 3 times I tried and it got as far as installing ipadOS 17.0.1 and stuck every time.

Eventually I decided to just install 17.0.1, erase and start the transfer again which I was eventually able to do but not without finding..

1. Erasing the device could not be done from the device it asked me for the same passcodes over and over and eventually locked me out.

2. Coming back to it later it was locked and wouldn't accept a passcode at all.

3. Forced to remotely wipe it from Find My to start again.

4. Remote wiping it showed no options in Find My other than remove after reinstalling it.. this actually wasn't so bad as it added itself back.

At this point I was actually able to perform the transfer from the old iPad and erase that.

Am I alone in this experience? I can't see this is a general issue, surely this must be down to limited testing of the process when hardware security keys are enabled.
