I completely agree. The utter over-abundance of attitude on these forums drive me crazy, I was actually quite pleased with your original post and thought you to be a humble designer that I would go to for advice.

Most 'experts' on these forums are, as I percieve them to be, mediocre amatuers whose unrecognition in their boring day jobs justifies them to be design diva's on the forum boards. Oscuh... this does not seem to fit your mold. Thank you! I will look forward to your posts elsewhere, whereas a solid handful of posters are quickly ignored for their complete lack of people skills. And skill altogether.

I'm Joel, and I'm just a person.

Well thanks! I try to just speak about what I know, without pretense or attitude. I'm Stephen, and I'm just a person, too ;)

re: Critique on first logo

What if you had several "wavy" vertical lines coming from the food that broke out though the roof like chimney smoke?

This may muddy it up a bit, buit hopefully it would integrate the two concepts more -- It wouldn't just be one thing inside another.

Cheers.

This conversation is why I generally don't offer critiques here, as it always seems to lead to some form of grandstanding or trouble. Although I occasionally stray, I try to keep to helping and discussing technical/software problems related to design and repro... far less subjectivity, far fewer egos to inadvertently bruise.

It's nice, but I agree with most that it communicates a catering businesss rather than selling houses.
I would like to see a variation with the bottle that extends as a chimney (but no smoke) although i am not sure it would be better.

also if you want to reinforce the 'home' vs. 'house' concept, why not add something like "we sell homes" or "selling homes since ..."

The OP asked for advice from all "experts and aficionados" that opens the floodgates for all sorts. More importantly, why wouldn't you want amateurs and such offering opinions on logos, branding, etc. - they're the end consumer! If their eyes' are caught by the design, chances are few else will be.

Alright, I'll try to explain a little better.

She is a realtor and wanted her own logo. Her passions include cooking and wine, so she wanted to implement that as part of her logo. I messed around with other cooking associated items, but a chef's hat or an apron is even more misleading. Also, if you buy a house from her, she will provide gourmet meal and wine for a house warming party (free of charge).

Do you guys think it is possible to combine the two? Am I better off creating real estate logo in order to simplify things? I am open to ALL ideas here.

Rule number 7: If you have to explain a logo, it isn't doing its job as a logo...

That's a worthy rule! To the OP, if you don't go with your logo or some variant of it you should copyright it or something and sell it to a catering company. Personally, I love it (sans the text, which confuses me).
