I went out searching for a 16 GB iPad and had no luck here in Atlanta, every Best Buy is out of iPad's except for the 64GB and it was an opened boxed one and my local Apple Store was out as well. It seems the 16GB one is always sold out no matter where I go. I am just going to get on the list at my Apple Store because the online store takes too long.

Took the advice and headed out to my local Best Buy today. Currently typing on my new iPad! I went to the San Bruno, CA. Location and they had plenty of 32 and 64 GB models in stock. They had about 30-40 in the store and Apple cases in stock as well. If you are in the general SF area, try your Best Buy.

I can't believe I even tried my local Apple store. It's been four days and they haven't even sent me a priority list confirmation yet.

I guess its too late, but for anyone visiting this thread, you can go to milo.com and search for iPad and it will show which Best Buy stores have the iPad in your vicinity.

Another place to look are campus bookstores. You'll have to be a student to purchase though.

PS: I'm not affiliated with the milo.com site, I just used it to get my 64GB wifi iPad! :D

PPS: My first post here! :) I've always enjoyed reading Macrumors and the forums and have gotten a lot of really useful information from here.

I've been on the priority list for a 16-gig wifi for 11 days now at the Costa Mesa, CA Apple store. I called the store after a week but couldn't get any information. Over the years, I have developed a dislike for Best buy--maybe have to give them a try.

I would try BB. My experience with the Apple stores has not been very pleasant so far. I picked up my iPad yesterday morning around 10 at BB and it was pretty simple. They had plenty in stock, the store wasn't crowded at all and everybody was very friendly.

When I went to my local Apple store the other day, there were about 100-150 people cramped in the store and it smelled worse than a men's locker room.

After all of this isn't simpler to just order online from Apple?

In retrospect, I should have purchased from Apple online. But, doing that now would involve a further delay of a couple of weeks. As things go, that would not be a real problem, but I really would like to get this done. I checked a number of the Best Buy stores, and they do have the 16-gig wifi in stock. So, I'll wait a few more days to see if Apple comes through and, if not, I'll go with Best Buy.

I did stop by the Apple store on two occasions to see if they might have what I wanted in stock. On one occasion, they had a 16-gig 3G iPad but no other models. On the other occasion, they did not have a single iPad in stock. So, at least in my area, the demand for the iPad still appears quite strong.

It is pretty amazing how crowded the Apple stores get. I was there mid-afternoon on a Tuesday, and the store was absolutely packed.
