See I've got a AW8 and was going to go for UW3 but they haven't updated so might just get a discounted AW2. I can't go through many days if I go out for a walk or two before the watch is going dead nearly in the evening.

Confirmed? S10 screen size is close enough to Ultra that it should* be compatible.
*Depends on Apple’s prerogative to differentiate the two models
Nothing official but believe me I've been looking. I hope it's there.
I've not read any reports that the Modular Ultra is available on the S10; still just the Ultra models IFAIK.
Me neither. Seems telling that SO many of the Ultra shots/video show it and none of the 10 ones do.
That could be a dealbreaker for me. Modular Ultra is my workday face so it’s probably the one that I actually use the most.
Hopefully reviewers will be thorough with S10 vs Ultra comparisons.
So damn frustrating because that would be my primary watch face for sure. I don't want an ultra.

Hey guys so I have a Ultra 2, its great but I hardly use the features on it.

I like the battery and the bulkiness of it, but I'm seriously thinking of going for the 46mm Series 10.

My friend has offered £450 for my Ultra 2, so I can use that to get a Series 10.

I'd like to start wearing my watch while I'm asleep and I think the thinness and size will help with the comfort of that.

Plus, the polished aluminum looks really good.

What's everyone's thoughts, are other people thinking the same?

If I were you I would keep the Ultra 2.

What you will lose going to the Series 10:

1: Reduced screen brightness as the S10 has 2000 nits, whereas the Ultra 2 has 3000 and I have really appreciated this brightness in bright sunlight, the screen brightness really pops with the 3000 nits.

2: The battery life will be half of what you get with the Ultra 2.

3: It has yet to be properly shown, but apparently the SIP 9 chip in the Ultra 2 and SIP 10 chip in the Series 10 are not to significant bump in specs. What makes me think this even more is the Ultra 2 and Series 10, there isn't a feature that is exclusive to the Series 10 due to the different SIP (like there was with the Ultra and Ultra 2 with the double gesture for example).

4: You will lose the watches faces that are exclusively on the Ultra.

5: Maybe not relevant to you unless you decide to go with titanium Series 10. But I have read that all the titanium Apple Watches have a PVD coating, so you cannot polish the scratches out of the natural finish without removing the PVD finish, like you could with the stainless steel models.

6: Loss of the Action button.

For me the Ultra 2 still has advantages over the 10.
Display size is basically the same, even if Apple claims the 10 has the biggest. In fact it's barely visible.
Battery life might not be an issue now, but it will be in 3 years.
I have an AW7 that has a max battery lif of 80%, and it barely lasts a day even without any workouts.
So the Ultra 2 will be still usable after 3 years, while the 10 wont.

And until then, I don't have to worry to use all the bells and whistles with the Ultra every day, because I know the battery is so powerful.

On top of that it is more robust.
My AW7 and the AW3 before have scratches on the display edges. The AW3 also had a small crack in the display.
It's just because of the curved edges.

The Ultra has a flat screen with saphire glass, and with the titanium frame around it.
So it is more durable.

I am replacing my Ultra 1 with the Series 10. If I don't like it, I can always replace it with the Ultra 3 when it comes out.
Same plan here. I hated wearing the AWU 2 after 8 months so I sold it and went back to wearing my AW 7 Graphite. I’m looking forward to the lighter weight of the S10 titanium.

That being said, I’ll keep an open mind when Apple updates the AWU 2. I mean, it already looks like an entirely different watch in black vs the natural titanium 😁

My theory: The best/least expensive option is to keep what you have. The battery life on the Ultra 2 is great and it's a good looking watch. Unless you roll over and sleep on top of your wrist, you're never going to notice which watch is on while you sleep.

That said, I have no idea what Apple watches cost in the UK. If £450 is going to leave you with a profit, make your friend happy, and you want to check for sleep apnea (whenever that feature is rolled out in the UK) then go for it!

I have tried really hard to sleep with my Ultra 2, but it is just too chunky. I have ordered a S10 aluminum to see if it is any better (plus, I miss the curved glass). I may keep the Ultra 2 in the end…

There are better and more comfortable devices to wear at night for sleep tracking.

I personally would never use an Apple Watch with a glass screen.

Losing the screen guard is also a big step down.

If forced to ditch my Ultra I would get a titanium S10 or discounted SS S9. But I don't like the glossy finish of either.

Unfortunately, as confirmed by DC Rainmaker, the Ultra watch faces and Night Mode are still Ultra exclusives.

I’ve been debating this same thing for the last few days! Every time I go to check out with the Series 10 in all black - I get to the trade in part and I’m just like no, I can’t 😂

I can't ever not have the ultra because of the battery life. By the time the regular apple watch catches up to where the ultra is now, assuming they still have an ultra, it will by that time last over a week...

Now I will say, they never really created the super long lasting low power mode they promised for the ultra, and since launch it doesn't last the 3-4 days minimum while off cellular that is started with. I'm not sure why, but it can still last 2-3 easy without recharging.
