I get what you're saying... but what about people who don't necessarily always place their phone in the same exact pocket every time? Which is to say, everyone I know. Yes I'm a left pocket guy, but sometimes it's in my car dock, on my desk, or in my breast pocket. Oddly enough, the "slate" style that basically every phone uses is pretty versatile for all those situations.

I don't think anyone is trying to curve a screen thinking "wow, now it will conform to a certain pocket!"

It can be curved and be on a appropriate dock, or on the desk.

Now, if the set of pockets you use is not compatible, buy a flat phone.

And the only reason the phones are getting bigger, is so that they can stick a bigger battery in them because of 4G LTE.

Really? I would imagine some phones are getting bigger to accommodate a bigger screen

The extra battery is incidental and of benefit mainly for this larger screen.

If you want to design a phone with greater battery life without increasing screen size you go thicker...

fits better? less reflections? more natural to type? how bout quit making phones with super huge screens? i can palm a basketball but i can just about barely type on my Nexus 5 one handed without the phone feeling like its about to drop

I can barely palm a basketball and type on my Note 2 all the time with one hand, in fact due to the size of my hands and thumb it is even easier. You are saying you nearly drop the Nexus 5... a smaller phone when typing with one hand?

So I just had a Huawei Mate20 Lite for review, this is a phone with a 6.3inch Flat screen (with a Notch), next to my Note8 with its "gimmicky" Curved Display.

What is truly hilarious is that the Note8 Display feels more substantial and wider than the Mate20 Lite. With the Note8 I feel as though I have more screen real estate to work with, even though it's curved the flat area seems to be larger/wider than most Flat screens of this size. My Note8 feels like more of a PC in my pocket while the Mate20 Lite felt like inwas a bit more restricted, even in terms of typing the Note8 feels like it has more room.

Also, it's great to be back to being able to see most of my notifications again without some black area getting in the way.

This thread is from 2013, they were talking about the LG Flex and Galaxy Round.
