Whilst trying to install the new 3G Unrestrictor i was booted out of Cydia after the download failed. When I went back in and refreshed I was promptly kicked out again. Now when I try to start Cydia it crashes instantly.

Can anyone tell me if this is a known issue?, and if so is there a quick fix without having to restore and start afresh? I have tried rebooting a couple of times with no success.

Any help appreciated.

:)

Same issue here. I tried to install Unrestictor several times and now Cydia will not start. Damn.

My Cydia install is doing this now as well. Has been working fine up until today. On a 32Gb 3GS jailbroken with Purplera1n. The only thing I've installed in the past 2 days were some "Essential" updates Cydia notified me of last night. I've forgotten what they were though. Any way to fix this without starting over? I've really got my iPhone set up exactly how I want it, and would be a hassle to have to Restore, re-jailbreak, etc to get Cydia back.

same here I can't get into cydia anymore. it just kicks me back to the home screen. I guess there is a bug on this "downloading sources" thing? how can we fix this sigh

Just been on CrashX's Twitter and I guess this is to do with this problem..

"A fix for the Cydia issue: delete everything that starts with apt.bigboss in /private/var/lib/apt/lists. Thanks @crashx ! (via @Oranav)"

Unfortunately I hadn't got around to installing openssh, any suggestions? :S

exactly same here damn

because even if we recover the iPhone and re-jailbreak
we will only get cydia, even worse than right now with having cydia and other apps

I guess we have to wait until saurik wakes up or something (according to crashx's Twitter) then maybe he can edit his lists and make it able to log into cydia

Found this method elsewhere by googling and have just this second sucessfully fixed my Cydia from crashing instantly when opened.

I used PuTTY to SSH into the iPhone and deleted everything inside:
/var/lib/apt/lists

Other than the Partial folder, which I was told not to delete. Rebooted the iPhone 3GS and everything is well again, Cydia has downloaded what it needed again and all is working :D

Same happen to me as well. Last night I updated to 8.2.1 iTunes than this morning I update the free SMS from global aq. After I updated the global aq since then I cannot open cydia anymore.

I had exactly the same problem. I went to find (and then download)Unrestrictor3G on Cydia but Cydia just crashed almost as soon as it opened. The last thing I downloaded previous to this problem was a MobileSubstrate update a day or two earlier. I thought for a while I was going to have to do a restore and then jailbreak again, then load everything back on. After searching around the web for a while I found the solution below, I don't know if it's the same as mentioned above but the path is different. The file I deleted (using SSH) on my 3Gs was:

etc|apt|sources.list.d|bigboss.list

After deleting, I resprung and Cydia worked fine, so I re-installed the bigboss apt, to replace the file I'd deleted (just in case), rebooted my 3Gs and everything seems to be working fine. Went back to Cydia and finally found and installed Unrestrictor3G and that too seems to be working without any issues.

Sorry, how to delete this "etc|apt|sources.list.d|bigboss.list" if we cannot open the Cydia? :D

Mine just started this as well on my 3g -3.0 and I have not installed anything for some time,it did update 2 games the other day ?

I tried for the first time this morning and mine just goes back to homescreen after a few seconds...:(

my data wont work today for some reason

can i do it from mobile terminal.

to delete etc apt sources list d bigboss

what is a mobile terminal or is there directions for us noobs ?

Mobile Terminal is an app which acts as a command line interface to the iPhone. However if you don't already have it or OpenSSH installed with Cydia down I don't know where you can go from here.

Instructions for use open Mobile Termianl and type

"cd /etc/apt/sources.list.d root" ENTER
"rm bigboss.list" ENTER

Edit - Ensure you don't type the quotation marks (for total noobs lol)

personally I deleted other files to correct my error, so you might want to see my previous post, but this way is only one file and may be easier for you.

Well shoot I do not have OpenSSH installed ..:(

So I have to go back and have it restored and then jailbroke again or will this saurik be able to fix it on his end ?
I ask as I am one of the most unlucky-ist when it comes to doing anything with line commands or even when I tried to jailbreak this iphone I got stuck when it asked for a ATT simcard after I did the first step so I had to pay some guy off craigslist $15 to do it....:eek::eek:

Thanks for the info BTW ...

Honestly I am no expert as I only jail broke my phone two days ago, but I doubt anything saurik does will help you. Cydia has crashed for whatever reason and its client side where the error has occurred.

Just found ANOTHER way to fix it, using a program called DiskAid http://www.digidna.net/diskaid/download.php

Download that, install it and connect ya iPhone.

In the bottom left hand corner of the program once connected you can choose the Root folder of your iPhone and browse the files.

So just go to: /etc/apt/sources.list.d and delete the bigboss.list file.

Once again personally I deleted other files to correct my error, so you might want to see my previous post if deleting this file does not solve yours. However its worth a go and the program DiskAid is a 14 day Free Trial.

Hope this helps :D
