I JUST jailbroke and finished tweaking everything just now I like it 3 or so days ago, and now I gotta get this update only to patch up the SMS issue...no new features or notable updates in 3.0.1 I'm guess. Not like I want to risk having my phone taken over though. Then I gotta wait for the new j/b and do everything all over again.

I'm sure many are used to this, but is anyone else relatively new to jailbreaking and SSH and NOT looking forward to going through the processes again, considering how tedious some of them are??

Three options

a) Update, don't jailbreak
b) Update, Jailbreak
c) don't update

I know it's TERRIBLE that Apple released a patch to their software as it inconveniences all the people that broke their TOS by jailbreaking. I feel for ya!

This is why I've combined all my theme elements into one custom theme under my own name and just ssh the bundle into /Library/Themes when I update. There isn't much else custom tweaking and what not I need to do that a restore from previous backup doesn't take care of.

But I"m not updated to 3.0.1 until it's jailbroken. Yeah, I'm worried about the txt bug, but I can hold out a few hours for the dev team to fix things.

Guess what? No on is forcing you to do anything with your phone. If you don't like it, don't do it. It's easy.

I love how MR has become Twitter.

If MR limited posts to 140 characters some would be better off!

what's wrong with this guy?^^^^^^^^^
sounds bitter

why

do I keep getting sucked into these threads lol! OP as a fellow JB you state the obvious. this is also going to happen every time there is a update. So every time you have to select one of those three choices to update try jb/wait and re jb/update don't jb! welcome to the jailbreakers world! ;) btw Unspoken Demise I like the bunnies too! :D

I'm currently trying AppBackup and AptBackup to see if it makes this whole transition easier. I already copied my theme and such folders off so it should be a matter of just dropping everything back into place.

One thing's for sure, I'm not leaving that hole unpatched.

Consider it a dry run for 3.1.

you should wait a few more days before re-jailbreak

this just came out today,i know they say redsnow works

But i would wait :apple:

I just did it and its fine.

Update to 3.01, redsn0w using the 3.0 ipsw.

AptBackup did and didn't work, all my apps downloaded but something was crashing springboard into safe mode. I have a lot of system mods so I guess something did it. I tried reinstalling MS but that didn't fix it.

Ah well, I have this routine down pretty well by this point.

I hear ya. AptBackup bricked my phone. Restoring as we speak.
