There was a website (don't remember where anymore) where he would get people in nigeria/etc to carve objects in wood in order to make money, and they would try to scam him...of course it always backfired. It would be funny to combine the two. I say, get one guy to carve a macbook out of wood, and then send it to the other guy who wants to buy it early.

I believe the website you're talking about is The 419 Eater. Some of the stories there are pretty funny, and definitely worth reading. I've had a few emails like the one the original poster talked about, and they're just annoying, and I'm surprised anyone would fall for them.

I like to get into deep conversations with them using a vast array of vocabulary. Especially since they are from the UK and speak English natively

I just spent about an hour studying this.

incredible. thank you for posting that link.

I know, that link is awesome. It is good to see these scammers get a taste of their own medicine every once and a while. :D

If you are selling something on ebay, and a potential scammer offers to buy your item, but he or she wants it sent to a different country do not do it. If they pay through paypal and you send it to an unconfirmed address, they can file a dispute saying they never recieved the item and you will loose your item and your money.

As for the buy it now option on ebay, you can now make it require immediate payment. If your preferences are set to pay pal only then if someone clicks buy it now your auction will not end unless they immediately pay by pay pal. Also set your options to require a feedback rating of 5 or higher for someone to purchase from you. This will prevent a number of scammers.:p

Recently those scammers were bugging me on craigslist. I always reply with CASH ONLY LOCAL PICKUP ONLY, CASH ONLY LOCAL PICKUP ONLY, CASH ONLY LOCAL PICKUP ONLY, CASH ONLY LOCAL PICKUP ONLY,

Though I usually do this for ten or so pages.:D

this type of scam has recently started using shipping points in Europe to hide their true location. people have caught onto fraud with African address.

i have gone to selling to US confirmed addresses only and I am thinking of adding 6+ months account age with 25+ positive feedback.

exact same thing happened to me. i was selling a minidisk player, and this guy asked would i take it off ebay and pay me via bidpay (sic), it was for his son, blah, blah, and could i send it to nigeria, and he would pay me whatever i wanted  .

he was kinda clever, he sent me a faked up BidPay email confirming that I had been paid. Except that the English in the email wasn't that hot.

i told him to f**k off, since then i have recieved those fake emails purporting to be from ebay, that gets you to enter you password and username.

cunning devils (< or something like that)

I sometimes pay for products with my friends paypal and have them shipped to Dubai where i live, i dont scam but there are a lot of peopel who do :\
