Actually that advantage only existed years ago. Now my Android phones integrate as fast an easy as my iPhone with my Macs, there's virtually no difference. I use Android and iPhone concurrently, they're both quite nice. The best of both worlds.

I still lose the 400 dollars.

I am rather torn.

You obviously want to stick with Android. ;)

Me, there is nothing that Android L brings that temps me. The new soft keys look horrible, and obviously this whole new security thing they're pushing is going to hurt the root scene in the long run. And honestly, Android isn't that great when you can't root it because that's where it shines the most.

The nexus 6 has an unlocked bootloader. There is absolutely nothing that can be done to stop a device with an unlocked bootloader from being rooted. You don't even need an exploit.

I only stay w iOS cause my entire family/friends use iPhone, but if it was my choice I would go nexus 6, and that's coming from an iPhone 6 user..

Rooting Android is for the small minority of tech users that want to play. The hundreds of millions of regular Android users never root, never miss not having root and are perfectly happy with their Android phones.

I totally agree. The vast majority of Android users do not care about being on the latest version either - as long as the phone works as it did when it was new they are satisfied, introducing new features would likely confuse a lot of them.

Rooting/upgrading and so on is only important to a very small percentage of the total user base.

You can revert to the any of the old soft keys in the settings. They are just a theme. I haven't rooted for a long time...it used to be really useful but I don't see the need anymore. Having said that, Any nexus device can easily be rooted. Most ROM's designed for a Nexus device are actually compiled with root using the tools provided by Google.

Things like XPosed modules are neat but not worth using IMO due to security concerns.

Why do people start opening sentences with "So..." ? It implies that it's a reply to a question... when in fact, it isn't - it's a conjunction.

Weird...

Makes 3 of us.

2~3 week wait for the iPhone 6 or an unknown date for the Nexus 6, whether anyone decides to stock it... FML.

I know I'll be getting an iPhone 6 though.

I thought tmobile said November 12 in a press release.

How much does the iPhone 128gb cost off contract in NZ vs the N6?

IPhone 6+ costs 1.4k and the Nexus 6 pricing hasn't been confirmed by our electronic stores but I expect it to be around that as well for the higher end storage option of the N6.

That's enough money to buy a decent MBA and the regular iPhone, M8,S5 etc all start at 1k. I don't think many people are on contract here but don't qoute me on that.

Why not just buy one from an American seller and save some cash? Shipping internationally with signature confirmation shouldnt be that much. There are several here on the forums for sale

Possibly like here in mexico, if you order in electronics customs pretty much doubles the price and you have customs handling charges on top of that. The base 650.00 iphone in the us is sold here for about 850.00 (us dollar figures) but if you order one in the price will wind up higher than that.

1. You guys use weird ass bands that aren't supported by our carriers for 4G
2. It's way more expensive actually for customs duty I think.
3. If we buy a carrier branded phone from the US then even if we use our carrier SIM's we are tied down to your stupid ass carriers for updates. I know this because my cousin's Galaxy S3 AT&T model was so far behind the NZ update, it was embarrassing, so I had to root his phone and install a custom ROM.

This would not apply to the nexus 6.

UGH, I'm on the fence between the iPhone 6+, Galaxy Note 4, and Nexus 6. I ALMOST walked out of the Apple store with a 6+ earlier when I heard they actually had them available. However I need to see a Nexus 6 in person and then make my decision.

I'm on the exact same boat as you but my phone will finally be here after 4 weeks. I'm curious which one you leaning towards and why?
