Am I the only one who doesn’t really get what the big deal is? Am I missing something? What is so awesome about dark mode?

I really don’t care about Dark mode personally. Now, the new ‘battery learn feature and the ability to send unknown numbers directly to voicemail’ are features worth the access to iOS 13 alone that are huge changes in the right direction against scammers and battery Learning management based on the user.

I like both modes, so I'm glad Apple allows you to switch based on time of day. Dark mode isn't great during the day. I use Night Owl on my Mac and it's an amazing experience.

Unknown numbers to voicemail is AMAZING! I can’t wait for that!

Surprised they don't have some cheesy name for it.
They should call it 'Darkness' - an ode to Charrrrrlie Murphy & Rick James :D

They should do what Windows has done with their Night Light in Windows 10 - location-based Sun rise/set triggers.

iBlacklist. Available to jailbroken iPhone users since iOS 3. Accept and Hangup. Caller doesn't even get past the first ring.

PS. Darkmode has been available to jailbroken iPhone users since at least iOS 7, if not before via theming.

Sorry, Apple isn't introducing anything new. They are just catching up. Finally.

Is dark mode enough to silence the notch naysayers. I imagine the notch is all but moot with dark activated?

Edit: Although dark mode is system wide I assume that video/media playback (YouTube etc) will continue with notch interruption, as would apps that haven’t updated to support dark mode. So, maybe not so Moot after all :)

Haha, not a chance...we wouldn’t sell out that cheaply :D (joking, I don’t mind the notch that much when I close my eyes) :p

I doubt it. I can guarantee you there will be more ‘notch threads’ started sometime after the iPhone launch, but keep in mind, outside of a tech forum, _no one_ cares about the notch or even remotely discusses it.

No, I will never buy a notch phone even with dark mode.
I’m notchless all the way.

A few years ago I would have backed you up but jailbreaks are fewer and further between and getting more so with each release. There's no argument that the addition of these features is late, but as with everything else adopted from the jailbreak community Apple takes its time to get the feature right before slapping it on.

Hopefully they continue to refer to iBlacklist and offer the options you mention in your post. I think that would go much further to discourage spammers than simply sending the calls to voicemail but at the same time, there are plenty of times when incoming calls are legitimate and end up leaving a voicemail so there needs to be a more comprehensive solution if we're going to go the route of immediate hang-ups.

Accept and hangup is one option that iBlacklist offers. There are more. It's not a one size fits all type of thing and I was just using that as an example.

As far as jailbreaks, I can't disagree about the fewer part. However, in regard to Apple implementing things, that's a discussion I usually have an opinion on. I'd be perfectly fine never jailbreaking again if Apple implemented things in the same manner as a lot of the JB tweaks. But there are significant differences and for one reason or another people either settle, compromise or are just totally unaware of what's come before (as a jailbreak tweak). Quick Reply is not BiteSMS, etc.

So that's the argument. Did Apple get it right? In the case of Dark Mode, all evidence seems to suggest they have. But Dark Mode is just one aspect of why I jailbreak and the dearth of JB tweaks from iOS 9 to iOS 12 is why I keep my 6s+ on iOS 9.

That said, my 6s+ is not my primary phone anymore. I got tired of waiting for that camera bump to disappear and the state of jailbreaking is now lacking. So my wife and I switched to Google Pixels (3a XL) about three weeks ago.

I don’t think you have ever used iPhone X or XS.
