Just saw in another thread that iPad OS16 will have the weather app.I use Dark Sky on both my iPhone and iPad mini. If they are discontinuing it, the least they could do is add the Weather app on iPads.
Other weather apps. that I use are Wunderground and AccuWeather.
"MyRadar" is a good weather app.
I do like MyRadar. Its aviation wx overlays are cool. But I gave it up over privacy issues."MyRadar" is a good weather app.
That is not good. When I first started using it several years ago, all those identifiers were not involved.I do like MyRadar. Its aviation wx overlays are cool. But I gave it up over privacy issues.
I don't see 'next hour' rain forecast in the weather app, in the announcement Apple showed a little 'next hour' graph like the one in Dark Sky but this is missing in the weather app, touching 'precipitation' just goes to the radar map with a 12 hour radar forecast - am I missing something? I don't see any graph showing whether it's going to rain in 10 minutes or not . . . .As a long time Dark Sky user, it's a little sad to get this notification. Knew it was coming when it was acquired by Apple, but still ... Most recently in addition to my mobile devices, I've had the iOS version on my Mac too. I know the functionality, or at least some of it, will be integrated into the Apple Weather app. Long live Dark Sky!

It shows up automatically and is hidden if there's no rain currently.I don't see 'next hour' rain forecast in the weather app, in the announcement Apple showed a little 'next hour' graph like the one in Dark Sky but this is missing in the weather app, touching 'precipitation' just goes to the radar map with a 12 hour radar forecast - am I missing something? I was surprised to find a good amount of info available in Apple Weather, but it's not very discoverable. I originally deleted it because it seemed too basic to be useful....It shows up automatically and is hidden if there's no rain currently.
Same here. I'm realizing there are layers of detail available. On a couple of my devices I've removed Dark Sky just to force learning where things are in Weather.I was surprised to find a good amount of info available in Apple Weather, but it's not very discoverable. When I started using MyRadar there was not App Tracking Transparency Report! Haha! That is not good. When I first started using it several years ago, all those identifiers were not involved.
Precipitation Alerts: Yes! Since iOS 15 last year. Dark Sky offers much more rich notifications (e.g. if temp forecast to go below 27 degrees). I have both apps set up. The results are sometimes amusing. Dark Sky isn't as reliable as it once was and Apple Weather sometimes has different ideas about when it will rain at my location. Although they bought Dark Sky, they still get wx data from the Weather Channel.I love the notifications from Dark Sky on my Apple Watch, "Drizzle starting in five minutes", that sort of thing.
Can I get this from the default Apple weather app now?
Also, I use the Dark Sky complication on my watch as well, is there a default Apple weather equivalent?
AccuWeather is the same way. If you care even a little bit about your privacy, don’t give them your location as “Always”. These apps sell your location to the highest bidder to include governments and law enforcement. There’s multiple articles talking about this type of thing. It’s not good at all.I do like MyRadar. Its aviation wx overlays are cool. But I gave it up over privacy issues.
I'm not on the iPadOS 16 beta, but weather is supposed to be included. Maybe someone who's doing the beta can chime in.I use Dark Sky on both my iPhone and iPad mini. If they are discontinuing it, the least they could do is add the Weather app on iPads.

You can also see it anytime by tapping on the day's detail (which normally defaults to Temperature), and then using the drop down to get any of the many other details including Precipitation.OK thanks, I saw it appear briefly earlier and now it's gone again
I don't know of an app that provides historical temp data, but there is historical data available on the NOAA/National Weather Service website if you're located in the US.I need to find a replacement for Dark Sky for a history and average temp feature, paid or free. Any recommendations?
I'm looking for an app that shows the historic and average temperature for any location and date of the year. Does anyone know an app that will do that? In Dark Sky, I just tap on "time history" and set the date ahead a year of the date I want and that is the average temp for that date, and set it back for history.
