If AT&T offered another data plan of 500MBs a month for $10 would you choose that? Or do you think unlimited is the only way to go? Me personally I would be all over it. My school and my house are literally 300 meters apart, both have solid wifi, at home I get 14 down and 0.98 up and at school I get almost 30+ down and 4 up, our school has a solid ass fiber connection. I wouldn't need to use the cellular connection that much and would probably keep it on EDGE and only use 3G when I'm going to practice and I'm bored on the bus or on a long car trip.

The poll is missing

"I don't want a data plan"

I have no data plan right now and I don't miss it for a second! I love paying $0/month for no-data.

My billing cycle ends on 10/22 and I have already used 350mb of data so I would not benefit from this plan if it was offered.

You must not have AT&T then do you?

just curious do you use the cell connection for data allot? How often are you on wifi?

then all the people with the $10 500MB plan will start crying when they go over their data usage...just get the iPod Touch

I did 5 gigs of Data last month

I would love it! I'm on wifi probably 75% of the time, so I would save money most months, and even if I went over every few months, it would still be cheaper in the long run.

I'm just saying theoretical not complaining (well not YET). supposed to get iPhone last week but AT&T store didn't have any so planning on getting it soon provided i work everything out and I just realized I have wifi in allot of places with my iPod. Almost doesn't even make sense to pay 30 USD extra a month for a feature that won't get used as much unless my school starts filtering websites better or I'm at practice were I won't have wifi. Most likely going to keep it on EDGE....

To be honest, I don't even use like 50mb a month.

At school, I can't have my phone out, if I do, it's on their Wi-Fi (Everybody knows the password).

At home, I get like 8 times the speed of 3G (My 3G is like 900kbps) on wi-fi.

The walk from home->School is like 10 minutes. At that time, I'm listening to my iPod, so yeah.

Yeah I'm the same way except I live accross the street from my school. As soon as I lose my home signal it hands off to the schools blazing fast connection. I just realized I really won't need 3G even if there's a node b like 700 feet from my house/school because even though you have like max possible download speeds the schools wifi is 15x faster (literally). Plus I really don't go to too many blocked sites.

I do not see ATT giving it for that rate. $20 a month is the most reasonable amount.

Personally for my smart phone (Black Berry) I would be willing to do that because most of my data usage is on the home wifi.

I would rather have the unlimited at the current price than have to worry about going over the data limit.

Up here in Canada, we already have a 500mb plan... for $25. Nobody really gets it because for $5 more you could get a gigabyte.

Absolutely not, an unlimited data plan is essential for me. I can't imagine the bill that I'd get if I used that plan with my normal data usage (2-3GB sometimes more)

I'm not in the U.S. but the data plan I have here is 500MB and it's enough for me (the most you can get here is 1GB) since I'm usually on WiFi. The only time I went over was when I lost my WiFi at home and had to use my iPhone for tethering. But still, you get a text when you're approaching your limit and when you go over so that you are aware of it, which is nice.

500 would be close for me.... i'd be all over 1gb though (i think are unlimited is 5gb?)

I think 1500MBs for $15 would be appropriate. I mean AT&T would probably have a more stable network because people wouldn't be forced into unlimited and have a "aw what the hell I have unlimited data! I can watch YouTube videos tell AT&Ts 3G network crashes!!!".

Do you know alot of people with iPhones?

Every person I know here has the 500mb data plan. Why? because $5 a month adds up when your not close to 500mb anyway. And its actually more then $5 if you bundle it. It would cost me an extra $10 to go back to my 6gb plan. If they still offered that. So now it would be $10 more for 1gb vs 500mb.
