This is killing me. It has been 24hrs of red exclamation marks every time I send picture messages. Yet, other people in my area with the iPhone are not having issues. I've done the carrier update, soft reset, hard reset, full restore, sim card in/out, called AT&T yesterday to add/remove my messaging package. I called today and they tell me I need to wait 24hrs. Oh great.

Is there anything else I can try?

#1, try to confirm with whoever you’re sending MMS to that the MMS isn’t going through. I was still getting the red ! for several hours even though my pictures WERE going through.

#2, Are you jailbroken? If so, remove ANY carrier images, text, etc and reset back to the “AT&T” logo.

#3, Call AT&T and have them remove all of your plans/features, add them back and finally, resync your account into their system. This is what FINALLY, after 7-8 hours, fixed mine.
 
Well it is Day 3 now and still no MMS.

I called AT&T this morning and got another run around about how the problem is only happening to a few iPhones and not all of them. Fan-Fing-Tastic job AT&T.

still no mms for me either. they blame the network in my area. i sent an mms from an att store with another phone, with mine right next to it and still a no go. obviously cant be the network.

4 different calls last night and i couldnt get them to transfer me past teir 1. $25 service credits twice, but still want mms.

come tuesday im taking my 4 lines, all iphones, somewhere else (different phones too)

Yeah it is ridiculous. At least you are getting service credits. I've gotten nothing. I've even requested to speak to a tier 2 rep, but no luck.

Your experiences are identical to mine. None out, none in. Sending to the MMS email address for my phone doesn't work but gives no errors back like it did on everyday before Thursday. They gave me the crappy wait 24 hours line too on Friday, got a "Your phone can send MMS... blah blah crap" text on Sat. Still nothing. Chatted with tech support online and they couldn't fix it and opened a trouble ticket... joy.
 
I am in the same boat as you OP :(. I talked to a customer service tech all day and she tried everything to get my phone working and nothing worked. She sent my case to the next level (should get a call Monday). Hopefully that's the higher up techs can get my phone sending/recieving mms.

What I got in return was not MMS capabilities on an iPhone. What I did get was a new excuse as to the problem: "It's an Apple/iTunes problem. iTunes hasn't updated your phone information with AT&T to let you send picture message". Sounds like a load of bull.

3 days - 3 different excuses. I wonder what it will be tomorrow.

Yup. I’d say it’s 100% AT&T. I called Apple and thankfully they are extremely helpful. The Apple rep personally dealt with two AT&T people for me, the first being completely incompetent. He had the second go in and totally reset everything in my account. From my phone’s serial number, to my minutes plan, my texting plan, etc. That finally fixed it all.
 
Just got off the phone with AT&T right now.
They said that it's now a KNOWN issue that certain iphones (random ones) just didn't take the carrier update and that they're working on a fix right now. Their expected date for a new carrier update is TUESDAY.
They gave me the ticket number: tt000011848640

BLAH... I didn't ask for any sort of credit towards my bill... whatever.
Just frustrating that it won't work while EVERYONE else I know has it working.

This is why apple needs to at least threaten AT&T with opening the phone to other carriers.
