I purchased Dead Island but because my best gaming machine is a PC I elected to play the PC version on Windows 7.
I'm about 3 levels in and some general game play comments. I've seen no glitches in the PC version. Graphics are great, the intro party cut scene is impressive and so far the game play is good. If you are not familiar, as someone else mentioned, it's similar to Fallout3, where in this case to find rescue, you go out on missions to collect items, communicate with others, and kill zombies whenever possible. I'm annoyed that despite being in a group of people, I am the only one going out by myself. I'm playing the jack of all trades character, Logan Carter Apparently he is immune to being bitten. Are all the heroes like this? Don't know.
The key to survival seems to be avoid tight places whenever possible, move so as to engage groups of zombies in as small a number as possible. Approach all inert zombies cautiously, ready to retreat because some of them can move rapidly once aroused. Body shots are fine, but head shots work best.
I think weapon degrading and upgrading is a annoying mechanism where weapons degrade rapidly, you have to repair often and have to buy repairs and upgrades with money (you've collected) as in who is this money being paid to?
Right now I'm juggling several similar games. Dead Island, Tomb Raider (2013), Far Cry3, and Vampire:The Masquerade Bloodlines (which I've played before). Of the 4, although Vampire is the oldest, it continues to be my favorite with a very immersive atmosphere and interesting characters, then Tomb Raider which I describe as a thrill ride, followed by Far Cry for open world exploration and missions, and finally Dead Island for a fighting mechanism that includes fatigue. Honestly I'll have to play it more to know if it's a keeper.
