My Macbook did exactly the same thing about 1 month and a half ago. I took it straight to the apple store and they said that they were going to replace the logic board but two days later which i thought was bloody quick theyd "fixed it".
A month later i get rss and take it back again and turns out all they done to fix it was reseat the ram which made it work they then replaced my logic board next day as a kind of apology i guess. Have you tried reseating the ram??

You mean you don't have applecare? Wow, that is an insane move on your part :) Get the applecare ASAP, as these products, specially the newer ones, have issues all the time. I am lucky that in the time i've owned my Powerbook for a while now and the only issue i've had is my screen with white spots. I intend on keeping applecare though, as it may come in handy later on.

damn. think i better get it soon then. was thinking about getting it near the 1 year warranty stops if problems did arise. now you tell me, Didn't think apple products always had problems. my old dell notebook barely had any problems for 3 years and regretted wasting $300 for that extended warranty.
