just trying to get an idea how many of you have dead pixels on your newest model imacs? Especially the 27" i5 3.1ghz

How common is it to have them? Is there anyone who has none? Thanks!

No dead pixels here. no yellow problems either. Got my 27" wednesday after the refresh.
Its quiet and I got both the mouse and pad. I feel lucky!

I haven't seen any stuck/dead subpixels on my 27" i5 3.1ghz. That said, I haven't done a hard look yet (too busy at work), but intend to soon.

I've only owned 1 LCD that had *any* - a used IBM T210 with 4 stuck subpixels. Otherwise none in any other LCD's -- probably 10-12 split among laptops and desktops.

My understanding is this is a pretty rare phenomenon these days....?

Cool man im happy for you... i also got a BTO 27" last week but it came in quite beat up with scratches along the body and foot stand. Screen is pretty perfect with very minor bleeding in the corners. i have decided to allow apple to replace it with a new one but im scared ill get a dead pixel or something. sucks to return something working but scratched to get something no scratched and not working... wish me luck i guess... thanks for your comment ill keep you guys updated for sure.

For the record apple forums removed this post from their site for some reason so i took it here.

what do you mean "after the refresh"?

Picked up mine saturday.
27" perfect display no bad pixies and no yellow.
Yeah!
So far love this machine.

None. I lived three years with a screen that had a green dead pixel just in the middle (a Samsung one), so I'm quite happy :).

I think I had one on my 27" iMac, however, it could also have been a tiny dust speck, I was not sure. Either way, there was a dead pixel-like black spot on my screen which bugged me to the extent of asking for a replacement.

I got the base 21.5" and it had a cluster of 20-30 stuck pixels. Sort of in the shape of a thumb print on the lcd... Returned it and the replacement has none.

None that I can see. I do have a bit of the yellowing. The only way I noticed it is because someone linked to the test image and I used that. Otherwise I would have never of noticed it.

ZERO screen problems for me with my new 27" i7 iMac; this screen is simply the BEST in the industry - there is simply no comparison with the rest.

Actually that's not correct. The Dell 27" generally reviews better and seems to be preferred by professionals for the matte display and larger color gamut. Though they both use the same panels. Anandtech has a nice review on it and the imac monitor.

But even so they are not industry best which would easily cost you twice as much to obtain.

It's nice to read many do not report any dead pixels. I will be receiving my second one tomorrow, I have good hope. =p

I hope you understand I am talking about personal computers...find me a better screen for a similar price and we're set. 99% of the world out there is still on crappy TN displays. As for Dell, they have some good ones, but not necessarily better than the iMac screen.

And what's not to believe when I say there are zero problems with my screen or zero dead pixels? Who is the owner here?

The Dell u2711. There you go. Like I said, it generally gets better reviews.

I never said a word about that.

How did you end up with both the 'pad and the mouse (I'm assuming you didn't pay for one)?

Cheers!

I waited until the apple guy was doing the checkout thing and I asked if I could have the trackpad instead of the mouse. He went out back to talk to the manager and came back with the pad. He subtracted 69.00 from the imac total and added in the track at 69.00. He said "I hope I don't forget to take the mouse back" and winked. I left with an unopened imac. Others have reported the same deal, It all depends on the apple store mgr. For the record after I set up the pad, I shut off the mouse and threw it in the empty imac box. I love the pad.
