The caveat with the Screens is Apple can be iffy on quality,

This is my iMac 27in which I got in Spring 2017. Quite bad smudging on the lower left. The pink hue is now around the edges as well. If this happens with the Studio display, it's not going to last 5+ years for many users.

Now that’s an excellent point. I’m hoping without all the intel guts, maybe it won’t have as much dust traversing the insides.

The videos on YouTube showing people how to remove the screens and clean the glass are terrifying....the tape to be removed then replaced, layers of sheets to lift, cleaning the glass and the sheets, the tiny screws etc.

I remember opening an Intel iMac from 2006 to replace the hard drive and what an effort that took.

And let's be frank isn't this where Apple ultimately get us? I can say now that the Studio Display is great and I'll keep it for 10 years and it's great because I'll just replace the Mac etc etc. But I know the likelihood will be I will end up keeping the screen for 5 years or less as a new Display will come out that is better, more features etc and the old one will show signs of wear and tear and we'll all be buying the displays and the macs in the same timeframe as we did iMacs. Except we're now paying a lot more money. I bought my iMac 27 in back in 2017 and it was the top-priced model at €2758. The Mac Mini with 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD plus the Studio display is €3288. That's a 20% increase. If I were to buy the Studio plus the display, it's €4378. I mean this is nuts.

Fair play to Apple, they know how to generate their revenues and margins.
