Actually you mention something thats kind of important. Probably for another thread, but maybe you can help.

My daughter traded in her iPhone for the Galaxy over a month ago. She still has a few friends who cannot send her texts, they send them she never receives them. She has contacted both apple and at&t and neither has been much help.

What solution has worked for your contacts to successfully send you messages?

Basically I did 2 things: I removed my iphone profile from my Apple ID, and Then her friends have to highlight the text before they send (hold finger on the text where it shows as they are typing it), until the option pops up to "send as text message" once they do that, she should be fine.

The problem it seemed was that she still has an Apple ID associated with the iphone and her friends devices still recognize that address. It solved my problem when they sent the text "as text" and not "imessage".

and the real Google now.

Eh, already enabled and later on disabled that more than four times on mine and I fail to see it making a significant advantage for my usage.

In fact my biggest beef with it, the reason why it always goes to the disabled wasteland is the frigging battery drains that happen randomly. One day it drains just 25%, another it completely empties the phone in 2 hours (confirmed through BBS and gsam as well as tons of research on my part, another annoying part - wasting time). Seriously unless Google makes that untamed beast battery friendly I am better off without knowing how many minutes to work on my holiday.

Hey man - freedom is a pretty big feature!

(check out rocket player too for an audio app)

Where is my freedom of installing any android image I want straight from Google on any of my android phones?

Are your referring to battery life being that bad with the Google play or the stock Samsung version? Or both?

I used to have a iPhone 4 but just switched to a galaxy s4 it's awesome I love it.. Although the quality in phone is way better on apples side and quality in IOS is on galaxy's side in my opinion.. But my girlfriend has the IOS 7 better and it's pretty darn cool but I still love how you can do anything you want on a android without limitations.

That being said it's simple if you want a IOS where you have no restrictions get galaxy, if you want a nice good quality phone and a simple IOS get the iPhone

That's usually more of a problem of carriers preferring a locked bootloader (ATT & Verizon both lockdown). If you have an unlocked bootloader, there is nothing stopping anyone from integrating google's images with your specific android device's drivers (there are google edition roms for touchwiz S4 devices in the wild as I'm sure you know). If you want google to do that for you, buy nexus or GPE. I love my GPE S4 no bloat and rock solid.

And as far as the syncing wirelessly android has a app called wifi file transfer. It let's you transfer files through a Web browser.. Really simple and easy to do. As I said before things you can do on a android is endless, so many possibilities you just need to discover them.

the only thing 5S will offer is a fingerprint scanner and two new colors
if that's too much for you wait for it, if not then go for the GS4

Speculation and rumors.....

We have don't know what the 5S will offer for sure. This close to ANY release, I'd say wait to see what happens.

Not like the GS4 is going anywhere.

Google play version.

Disabling WiFi and cellular location helps it get better but not gone, and disabling that effectively kills Google now anyway.

Its like driving a lambo with just a 10L tank. Awesome but a PITA.

I agree with egoistaxx9, that's the reason why I went to samsung it seemed like apples new phones were going no where with little upgrades. Hell I had my iPhone 4 ever since it was released and couldn't waiting for a new iPhone that was worth it.

I'm going HTC One for a month. My brother (huge Apple fanboy) just got the S4 and loves it. I love my iPhone 5, but it still has major annoyances for me. I've been using iOS 7 and unfortunately this is more of a skin than anything else with the exception of control center.

If I don't like the HTC One I'll get the 5S. We will see but I definitely prefer the larger screen. I might miss iMessage, but I love google hangouts, google now, and the customization that Android offers.

I have 30 days starting tomorrow when my One arrives.

Please let us know how you like the HTC One vs. the iPhone 5, even if you need to start a new thread about that. I am ready to upgrade from iPhone 4s and will wait to see what Apple unveils on Sept. 10. If they do not increase the screen size to at least 4.3 in., I am probably going to buy the HTC One. I also need 32 GB now and the HTC One gives that as standard memory, whereas the iPhone 5 makes you pay another $100. Thanks for sharing.

it'd only disappoint you

Wrong.

Personally, I wasn't disappointed by the iPhone 5 announcement and I doubt I will be disappointed by the 5S release either.

Maybe I don't have wild, ridiculous expectations? Maybe it's because I understand a lot of what changes under the hood because I pay attention.

Mostly, though its because I think about releases independent of other releases - like I don't compare what will be released on the 5S to what was released on the GS4. Two COMPLETELY different OSes which run differently and have different priorities.

And as I've used both, these statements have grown more true. It's funny though - as different as they are, for me they're pretty much the same. My use case dictates what I do on my smartphone, not the other way around.

1) iOS7
2) fingerprint scanner
3) NFC
4) champagne and graphite colors
5) better camera with dual LED flash

i think these things will pretty much close the gap if not leave the S4 behind. it's gonna be one hell of an upgrade:D

The 5S is boring. Same as the iPhone 5 but a little faster just as we expected. Oh, and some extra colours. Admittedly the fingerprint scanner is pretty cool that's pretty much the only good thing about it. Overall it still doesn't come close to the S4 or Note 3 especially with that same low res four inch screen.

The finger scanner is pretty neat but I wouldn't feel safe using it. It may be convenient but seems less secure. Other then that, nothing else really impressed me with the 5S.

I have a feeling the camera will be superb. My iPhone 4S is still better than my Note 2 for quick shot photos, and the new warm/cold tone flash + low light capabilities added to the even better cam on the iPhone 5 probably won't make things worse.

If I had a spare $650 just lying around, I wouldn't mind getting a 5S for social occasions when I know I wouldn't get any productivity work, serious reading or gaming etc. done anyway - which also tend to be the times when I take a lot of photos.

Alas, I can't spare that kind of cash for getting an extra device just for fun. And my Note 2 is a far superior device for all other everyday situations, i.e. 95% of the time...

How do you like the Note 2? Do you think the Note 3 will be better than the iPhone 5s?

Already the Note 2 is better than the iPhone 5S (for me). It is superb. And the Note 3 will of course be even better, with the upgraded and even bigger screen in a same size device, the powerful hardware inside and of course the updated & what looks like heavily improved TouchWiz functions.

Again, this is speaking for myself of course, with my priorities being centered around true productivity (lots of typing - infinitely better with swipe typing) and the versatility of having a large screen (and Android). But as I mention above, I do think there are situations where the 5S will be a better fit.
