16 of 27 days closing my move ring. I lost one day to a bad storm (most of my "move" is walking), and one day to jury duty. I can still lose two more and make it, so I should be fine.

I thought this month would be a piece of cake as all I have to do is close my rings every day (my move goal is 500 but my average is close to 1000). Having ITB issues which has made even walking difficult some days. I’m still on track but not confident…

What’s ITB?

I have all three rings 16 out of 28 times, 17 if I get my stand ring (which is usually a given). I have 1 day that I can miss and still get the monthly challenge.

Goal I am really interested in (which has nothing to do with monthly challenges)?

2112 miles running / jogging this year. Just need 42 more.

Where do you see the yearly miles?

you should be getting that out of the Health app ...
Well, yes and no.

The Health app gives you info for workouts, but I don't see mileage (only) by workout. The closest I can find is "Walking + Running Distance", but those numbers are higher than the mileage I ran. Any other workouts would be the spin bike, but even for a day when I only did one workout (outdoor run), the total miles the Health app shows me are higher than the mileage I ran during the workout.

If there is a way that reflects just the miles I ran during a workout, then that would be good starting next year since 2022 will be the first year that I have an Apple Watch for the entire year (I bought my first one this past February).

If not, that is OK, I have been tracking my running miles manually for a long time and I don't mind.

True, it’s “total” distance.
I’ve tried an app called QS access that lets you export health data into a spreadsheet, and I’m pretty sure I’ve seen posts where others have done similar with other apps.
You might want to start a thread with just that question, might get more comments and suggestions than the December activity thread.
I’m pretty sure the raw data is there, just need to find a way to extract it

When you click in the activity app on your running workout, I assume that shows you the distance, right? That would proof my point that the raw data is there… esp when you go back in time and check it out

Oh absolutely.

I looked at the XML export file earlier in the year. Lots of data in that file and loooots of nested tags. For now it is easier to continue to track my running mileage manually (not a whole lot of data per run, and the AW makes it pretty easy).

One of these days I may dig deeper, just haven't had the motivation to do so yet.

Absolutely - distance, splits (time for each mile), average time per mile, average heart rate, active calories, total calories, elevation (love that one for the hilly runs).

Just googled this:
export workout running distance apple watch
Google yourself and take a look at the results, you might find what you’re looking for ?

There's an app called Health Stats that will give you monthly and yearly totals just for workouts, as well as some other stats. I think you have to pay for the "premium" version to get the yearly stats, but it's a one-time fee — no subscription — and the developer doesn't collect any stats. It's free to try out.

You can also filter for particular types of workouts, so if you wanted to see just running distance you could include only running workouts.

Here's a sample showing yearly workouts, with monthly total below.
