HiDPI should be OK?

It seems to me that HiDPI mode is the answer for this monitor. Text will be a decent size, although a bit on the big side, and any apps that support HiDPI mode will use the full resolution. I've been wanting a big "retina" monitor for my Mac Pro for quite some time, and this looks like it's got a lot of promise. Aperture works well in HiDPI mode, and that's enough for me for starters.

On a related note, I am thinking of buying this monitor for my 2010 Mac Pro, along with an nVidia k5000 card. It looks like the card should support 4k resolution, at 60Hz, on a Mac Pro, but I'm not entirely sure as I can't find any specific posts from anyone saying that it's actually working. It sure would be nice to know in advance of buying so much hardware!

One of my two 24" Apple LED Displays is about to die (blinking, fading etc).

I'm tempted to buy one of these Dell displays, but I need to know if my 2009 Mac Pro will drive it at 4K 60Hz?

I am running a nVidia GeForce 660 Ti 2GB. Anyone know if it will work?

Kindest,

Scott

Is it available in quantities or is it more of a low quantities for now? I really want one... does it have HDMI 2.0 or displayport 1.2 to allow 4k 60hz?
Thanks a lot... The monitor look gorgeous!!!

Look at the specs of the card... if it has HDMI 2.0 or displayport 1.2 it will drive 4k 60hz just fine :)

**Edit**
They have it as well in Canada on the dell website... ****ing sucks if I had knew about that one I wouldnt have bought a 2nd TB display LED for my new Mac Pro 8 cores

From their site:
"3840x2160 at 30Hz or 4096x2160 at 24Hz supported over HDMI. 4096x2160 (including 3840x2160) at 60Hz supported over Displayport. Support for 4k tiled MST displays requires 326.19 driver or later."

326.19 driver is on windows... Latest build of OSX comes with 310.xx version unless you use the modded nvidia driver I posted on the forum... Its based on the 334.01.02f02 driver... I guess that still it would drive it correctly with 310.x series driver as some users reported to have 4k 60hz with macs running nvidia cards before the nvidia driver was released...

**Edit**
Heres the topic I created with the modded driver for 10.9.3 and 10.9.4

I don't believe the Dell 24" 4K monitor is tiled so it shouldn't matter. If he's getting 4K@69fps from DisplayPort MST must be active (apparently with a lot of these displays it's oddly not on by default in the monitor settings.)
