I'd still have issue with the overly drama'ish tone of the video and the lack of including the other machine it's being compared to in the video. That's just disingenuous in my opinion..
I think you're in the minority about the drama'ish tone ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Also he's doing an individual review of one machine, not comparing all machines at once. He does cross reference where it makes sense but you can easily see the videos of those if you need too.

Then we agree.
Sure as long as you are going to include many other $900 gaming PC which I'd also do.
I think you're in the minority about the drama'ish tone ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Being in the majority is never a concern of mine.. He created drama and a click bait title.. Unless you believe the 'trusted' 'expert' was clueless as to what he'd actually get from the order... Which I do not...

He created drama
Let me put it another way, I think you're probably nearly alone in thinking that there's drama. There is no drama.

At the end of the day, does it matter? The fact remains that Dell/Alienware are doing some very questionable things.

In my 15 years using Dell, I have to say that the low end consumer line of PCs are crap. You would be lucky to have it last 90 days.

However, our organization buys only enterprise servers & commercial/business lines of both Dell desktops and laptops which are custom imaged for our needs and lasts at least 5+ years.

As for personal, I love the Alienware displays - super good performance on my flight simulator (Dell 9020 MT w/ i7 & 32GB RAM).
Wow, considering I have had the same 2 "consumer" dells for 5 years now. Both work great, The screen on my first one broke because my 65 lb husky stepped on the screen. NOT DELL'S FAULT. That is the only thing that happend to it. It has been tossed into the back of jeeps off road, planes, boats, motorcycles etc. It worked and looked new until she stepped, well jumped on it. My 11 inch 2 in 1 still works perfectly fine. It's a great small device for my wife to do her stuff on. shopping, word processing, budgets, cricut stuff etc. No issues since we owned it. I bought the XPS 8940 SE this winter as a workstation. I have two ultrasharp 24" monitors hooked to it, and have 4 drives in it. 128gb ram and I am awaiting the notcua cooler and fans to arrive. My new 14" 2 in 1 is built better than my son's MBA. and it's a hell of alot faster as well.

I have NO issues with dell consumer. I am speaking from first hand experience with them. Not hearsay, not internet claims, REAL FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE.

If 1 Mac on 10000 have an hardware problem, for sure you will see the news on every website. If 1/3 Dell have hardware issue nobody’s talks about it.

Dell, Lenovo and others are mass-market brands, they provide a wide range of devices and price points, some like Lenovo change their device offerings so fast it is hard to keep up. You don't hear about them so much as people have a higher tolerance and ability to vote with their wallets at the next purchasing decision if they get a poor experience.

Apple, their marketing and devout followers will tell you that 1 in 10000 hardware issues on a Mac is unacceptable as they are on a different level to Dell, Lenovo and others. Apple only users have no ability to vote with their wallets so shout louder than the rest.

But the smarter folks amongst us know that when it comes to component and build quality they are no better than anyone else. Apple is also the king of suppression when it comes to data on things like how many butterfly keyboards have been returned for repair or how many screens have the stage lighting effect and so on.

Has Apple had devices where 1/3 have had issues? Possibly, but we will never know.

That Dell is still "trash". Your words.
Just stop with the games please.... Now you are taking parts of a statement, quoting them and twisting them to reach your conclusion. I am pretty sure this is against the rules of the forum...

This thread has been entertaining to say the least.. Comments that range from 'every Dell I've owned has ended up in the trash' (like anyone actually believes that) to calling the guy in the video a 'trusted' expert'... The same dude who should have known exactly what he was ordering, you know 'trusted expert' and all that (LOL) but oddly didn't...

It's entertainment value is now wearing off as people start to play games and intentionally take parts of a quote and twist them...

Do you think someone who is described as a 'trusted expert' would have the tools, know how and ability to know exactly what was in the machine before he ordered it? I do.. If he did know, then it's staged drama, playing to the video and click bait content.... My .02

You've called that Dell a "crappy computer" and "trash" multiple times. I don't have to agree with your opinion on other $900 gaming computers to agree that this Dell is trash, now do I? Nope.

You're playing games and I'm not interested.. Have a nice day.

Agree and I've said so several times in the tread..

I don't care if the Dell machine he reviewed is garbage or not as it's not something I'd buy or suggest that anyone buy. My opinion is that any $900 gaming PC is probably not worth the money as at that price you are getting low end components and build quality..

I wonder if GN has been asked to get the HP Omen 30L for comparison.

That would be interesting to see. This sub $1000 HP Pavilion looks interesting as well. Unlike the Dell, it looks like it has standard parts and is not proprietary. Of course, no way to know for certain unless someone like GN does a tear down.

Same for this Skytech.

I'd be less worried about proprietary parts on that and more concerned about airflow.

Nothing a little bit of water cooling can't fix, or make not that important, maybe...

I believe what I see, GamerNexus and LTT are pretty honest and have a level of integrity that I do believe what they report on.

GN showed a number of issues, not just talking but backing up showing it. The proof is in the putting and the tear down of the machines show a shocking lack of quality

LTT had the recording of the buying process and the desires not have certain reoccurring charges but the invoice in fact had them. The strong arm upselling seemed a bit offputting too

That doesn't mean they're not scamming people, it just means you bought a computer that is fully upgradeable and chose the components. I would verify those components, as the first video showed the alienware computer was supposed to have liquid cooling but instead it has a tiny ineffective air cooler not meant for a gaming machine.

As for upgradeable, they're incurring a class action suit from people who bought machines that were marketed as upgradeable only to find out they're not.

Here's a different take - the Better Business Bureau

Yep, I find LTT and GamersNexus honest. People just think that when their opinions don't match, the YouTuber is HORRIBLE! But these guys do a LOT to back up their claims. Graphs, tests, and a lot more than just some reply "You believe X?" doesn't dispute their testing properly.

Neither Linus or Steve are going to tell their viewers to get a Mac (of any sort).
Actually LTT did say to get the Macbook Pro M1 and that they liked the M1 Mac mini (once they added 10Gbe).

They also roasted Apple for their initial marketing of M1 which I agree with. "3x better than Windows systems" that is not very good marketing and LTT just got on them for it.

I would not give that dude's videos another view if you paid me... :p
So its fine to criticize someone for being "clickbait" or "incorrect" or "doesn't really know what they are talking about", but don't want to get the full context of their argument? Okay.... I have never once seen someone complain about LTT or GN about them being BAD and counter it with FACTS. Where is your graph of temperatures/performance or teardowns that dispute their claims?

Does he always act overly drama'ish with click bait titles?
Please, do NOT blame ANYONE for click bait titles. Not GN, not LTT, not ANYONE. Blame YouTube and their absolutely horrible changes to the algorithms. If you don't get a lot of views quickly, even on a successful channel, that video will not show up in the recommendations list for even subscribers! If that happens often enough, all of your videos start slipping even with your subscribers. It even impacts the notifications you (the viewer) receive.

Personally, I find it a bit strange for anyone to criticize experts in the field of gaming PCs when they have no knowledge of gaming PCs or even knowledge of those experts at all.

I see you didn't read the thread or comprehend my responses if you did read it eh?

I've not doubted his findings at all and have said several times that it probably is not a good computer based on the price.

What amazes me is that a 'trusted expert' was absolutely clueless as to what he was getting... The click bait title and the drama over what was inside the machine (when it's my guess he already knew) is just more to dislike about his video...

I have read all of your posts. You keep quoting that he is a "trusted expert" claiming he is not an expert in the items he is discussing. Yet you don't want to actually do your research to back up that claim? I have watched dozens of videos from him, he knows his stuff. Probably to the detail that most of us here does not, I am a pretty big computer geek and he knows a LOT more than I do on these topics.

And you keep claiming he was CLUELESS about a $900 computer being low end. Are you saying he was SHOCKED, NEVER seen anything like it where a $900 system didn't come with a i9 or the most expensive Threadripper? How did you get the impression that he is clueless about a $900 system?

LOL

I actually don't think you have read them and if you did then you are having issues comprehending them.. I never claimed he is a 'trusted expert'... If he is, and I honestly don't know, then my contention is that he should have the tools, ability and know how to research the computer he is buying. He acted shocked when he opened the case (cue the drama, shock and awe for the camera I guess)..

I'd certainly not label someone as a 'trusted expert' who goes into things blindly with out any research..

So:
  1. He knew exactly what he was getting and his reactions were just all show for the camera and click bait content
  2. He might not be the 'trusted expert' that some claim him to be since he can't use the tools at his disposal before purchase.
I fully believe the man knew in advance EXACTLY what he was buying and EXACTLY how the video would play out.. The end result was just theatrics for views..

Good for you, you like his content. Based on what I've seen it's playing to the camera and drama induced trash but that's probably just me..
