The dell monitor will be under $500 in a few months,
Besides power consumption, what's the difference with this in reality? Does it make the panel inferior?
How did your friend get it for 750? Care to let us in on the secret?
The dell monitor will be under $500 in a few months, Unlike Apple products the price will start high and drop over time. Apple prices start high and stay high.
The U2410 hasn't dropped a dime. At best it was $499 over Christmas.I doubt it. It's a pretty high-end monitor...but it I suppose it'll go down some in the coming months/year

If this is available for $750, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Already went the yellow tinge iMac route and don't care to go that way again. Happy with speed of my MacPro, but looking to upgrade my aging ACD. It's still great, but I did like the iMac for the week I had it.
Anyone have luck getting the price down?
This is not the same Apple's panel, I don't know why you guys are saying it is.
I'd still take the Dell U2711 over what Apple sports. You might wanna check first to be sure that the 27" Dell doesn't have a yellow tinge, it doesn't have to be unique to Apple, they're using the same panels.
It's a matte standalone display with multiple inputs and a wider color gamut. I haven't seen any coupon codes for it yet.Explain, please?

I kind of wish that Mac displays were matte.Much better for photo editing which is about all I do.
Wide gamut displays are only good for Photoshop. For every thing else, they make the colors very oversaturated. It's a matte standalone display with multiple inputs and a wider color gamut.
Those films make the image all rainbowy. It's even worse when put on glass.

I didn't forget the warranty either.

You'd have to go with RGB LED over the WLED on the iMac. The Dell uses classic CCFLs as a compromise. RGB LEDs would have demanded an even higher price over CCFLs.You got me puzzled with the gamut. Similar panel should give similar one, right?
....
Everything else was oversaturated, especially the reds ... desktop, games, etc.
