Has the detecting a USB-C signal issue been resolved since Apple updated to 11.1?I have this setup and working with an 8GB RAM / 512GB M1 mini using the Apple USB-C Thunderbolt 3 cable. It works great with one problem: On reboot, the Monitor does not detect a USB-C signal. Removing and reinserting the USB-C cable solves the problem. Luckily this happens infrequently so it's not a show-stopper. I am expecting Apple to correct this in a future firmware update. You can see my setup and answers to questions in this post: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/anyone-going-from-mbp-16-to-mac-mini-m1.2269969/
Hope this helps.
No. I have the Mac mini and the U3219Q, and spent some time with Apple support trying to fix this. It’s still broken in 11.1. I use a CalDigit dock, and connect from there using DisplayPort.Has the detecting a USB-C signal issue been resolved since Apple updated to 11.1?
Look great. I use this resolution. It’s almost as good as native res, but you can only see the difference close up. I use my mac for writing, and photos, so I’m fussy.I know that running a 4k monitor at full resolution makes things a bit too small, but I would like to run it at 3008 x 1692 to have more real estate than 2560 x 1440. Can anyone confirm that things still look good at this scaled resolution for daily use? If I had to scale back to 2560 x 1440 I might as well just stay with the Thunderbolt Display.
Also, one of the reasons I returned the LG was due to the USB hub built into the monitor. If I had a USB hard drive/SSD connected and the computer went to sleep, the drive would be ejected ungracefully and I would get the message that the drive was unmounted improperly. Obviously this is not what I want. I have tested this on a different Dell display and things work as they should, just like if they were connected to the back of the Mac. I would like to know if this is working also on the Dell U3219Q.
Thanks for the info. Good to hear about the USB ports. I'm more concerned about them dismounting when the Mac goes to sleep. I use a drive for Time Machine. Sounds like it works. Another question - do all the USB ports work if connected via USB-C? Even the side ports? Whats with the USB uplink port - is this if you are connected via DP or HDMI?No. I have the Mac mini and the U3219Q, and spent some time with Apple support trying to fix this. I will test again, but I have my drives connected to the Thunderbolt dock. I remember that, when I hooked up an old backup hdd to the monitor, it kept mounting, even though it was set to stay unmounted.
Also worth noting is that the monitor reports that it is not connected via RGB, but instead by YPbPr. I did manage to force an RBG connection and it looked exactly the same.
Anyone have a monitor that can run in RGB color mode with Mac Mini M1?
If so, pls list brand, model and connection type. I can’t get my Dell U2720Q to run in RGB color mode (YPbPr only) and would like to know which monitors can actually run RGB color mode with Mac Mini M1. Thxforums.macrumors.com
I recommend this monitor. Would buy again.
Yes, all ports work. If you connect the monitor via USB-C, you don’t need the uplink usb port. However, the ports on the monitor will only run at usb 2.0 speeds, I think because the USB-C monitor connection uses most of the available bandwidth. That’s fine for mice and audio gear though. Thanks for the info. Good to hear about the USB ports. I'm more concerned about them dismounting when the Mac goes to sleep. I use a drive for Time Machine. Thanks again - seems like a great monitor.
How did you manage to force it into RGB on M1?!No. I have the Mac mini and the U3219Q, and spent some time with Apple support trying to fix this. It’s still broken in 11.1. I use a CalDigit dock, and connect from there using DisplayPort.

There’s a thread about it somewhere on here. You enable HDR on the monitor, and then the uncheck the HDR box in the display prefpane. How did you manage to force it into RGB on M1?!
I couldn't get USB ports to work with my M1 Mac mini just with the single USB-C cable. I used the cable supplied by Dell with the monitor.Yes, all ports work. I have the uplink cable connected, because I’m using DisplayPort. I get USB3.0 speeds.
But I guess you still have YPbPr color scheme in the OSD.I couldn't get USB ports to work with my M1 Mac mini just with the single USB-C cable. I used the cable supplied by Dell with the monitor.
Now I ended up switching to HDMI + uplink USB cable and things work pretty well. However, I noticed that there are less scaling options available with HDMI cable (I'm running display in 2560 x 1440 mode - its super crisp ?). As a plus side I think screen wakes up more reliably (but still slowly) with HDMI compared to USB-C.

Yes. To me the picture looks good, but of course would be interesting to see the difference to RGB. Hopefully this is on the long list of bugs Apple is working on with 11.2.But I guess you still have YPbPr color scheme in the OSD.
You can use USB-C for the display, and also use another usb cable for uplink. I’m using DisplayPort btw. Works great!Yes. To me the picture looks good, but of course would be interesting to see the difference to RGB. Hopefully this is on the long list of bugs Apple is working on with 11.2.
I might try USB-C connection once again, but concerned I lose the USB hub functionality on monitor again.
I think I tried this and couldn’t get the hub work. But I’ll give it another go tomorrow. You can use USB-C for the display, and also use another usb cable for uplink. I’m using DisplayPort btw. Works great!
Okay, I now switched to USB-C and kept the separate uplink USB connection. All looks to be working and I got one additional display scaling option 3008x1692 between native 4K and 2560x1440. I think I'll keep it this way as this scaling looks to be the sweet spot between screen real estate and font sizes.I think I tried this and couldn’t get the hub work. But I’ll give it another go tomorrow.
I wouldn’t worry. On mine, it looks exactly the same in either mode. But I was not able to output RGB - I tried to play with the HDR modes, but didn't help.
Do you keep the HDR mode on or off? I have it currently on in monitor OSD settings, but off in macOS display settings.I wouldn’t worry. On mine, it looks exactly the same in either mode.
Can you use the USB-C connection and the USB uplink for data at the same time?I think I tried this and couldn’t get the hub work. But I’ll give it another go tomorrow.
VERY good question. Can you use the USB-C connection and the USB uplink for data at the same time?
Nope... Couldn't get the uplink cable to work even when I only plugged it in first, and then USB-C.Maybe the monitor determines the USB data ports used by what's plugged in first. You could try this - unplug everything - then plugin the USB uplink first, then the USB-C cable. Test and see?
Off. It’s not available for DisplayPort connections.Do you keep the HDR mode on or off? I have it currently on in monitor OSD settings, but off in macOS display settings.
Yep, I noticed this. It made me think that USB uplink is only designed to work alongside DP and HDMI connections. There’s a setting on the monitor that lets you choose the usb cable that’s used for data. This only has settings for DisplayPort and HDMI.
Thanks for the clarification. So I assume you could connect using display port to retain a 3008x1692 resolution and then use the USB Uplink to maintain USB 3 compatibility? There’s a setting on the monitor that lets you choose the usb cable that’s used for data. Off. It’s not available for DisplayPort connections.
Probably I could - would just need to get DP - USB-C cable which I don't currently have. Maybe I'll pick one up this weekend. Thanks for the clarification. So I assume you could connect using display port to retain a 3008x1692 resolution and then use the USB Uplink to maintain USB 3 compatibility?
Is this actually correct? Because I am getting HDR even with HDMI. Shouldn't DP be at least equal to HDMI?Off. It’s not available for DisplayPort connections.
