Has the detecting a USB-C signal issue been resolved since Apple updated to 11.1?

Thanks for your help.

This problem has been resolved by downloading and installing the firmware update for the U3219Q.

You can download the firmware updater for MaxcOS from here: https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/dell-u3219q-monitor/drivers.

I installed the Dell_U3219Q_FWUpdate_M3B110_macOS.pkg and followed the app prompts to install the latest M3B110 firmware, shut down the M1 Mac mini, unplugged/replugged the U3219Q from power, booted up the Mac mini, and bingo -- problem resolved as the monitor is now detected over USB-C after waking from sleep and after cold boots without needing to disconnect/reconnect the monitor!

I hope this helps.

Question: Are you using the USB-C cable that came with the Dell?? I did get this monitor for the second time, it already has M3B110 firmware loaded. I'am using the Cable Matters USB-C to DP cable but would prefer to use a USB-C to USB-C if it works correctly now. This was the issue as well as flickering why I returned my first U3219Q but the display seems ok now. Thanks

I will say this - I started using USB-C to USB-C since Monterey 12.1, and the sleep issue seems to have been resolved. The monitor wakes consistently every time.

Many thanks. I am on 12.1. Overnight I did not encounter the sleep issue, appears to wake up quite fast now. Still using the USB-C to DP cable. I will observe the monitor for a few days and then switch to the C to C cable.

Hi,

I am also considering to buy the Dell U3219Q.

From your report I now understand that the USB-C to USB-C work great for video at 4K res.

What about the USB hub functionality offered on the monitor ?
Are you able to attach other devices to the monitor USB interfaces and does it work ?

Thanks,

Alain

I use this monitor with both my Windows desktop and MacBook Pro. It acts as a KVM switch, so I share a webcam, speakers and keyboard/mouse (via a Logitech receiver) between Mac and my desktop. All these peripherals are connected to Dell display.

Desktop is connected via DP cable and supplied USB upstream cable. Mac is connected via USB-C (bonus: the display provides 90W of power to it).

Had the monitor for 5 days and not connected the USB Ports yet. I use Samsung T7 drives so plug these directly to a MacMini TB port as they are Gen2 interface. The Dell upstream connection is Gen1. I will connect the keyboard and mouse in a few days to these downstream ports.

Okay, I now switched to USB-C and kept the separate uplink USB connection. All looks to be working and I got one additional display scaling option 3008x1692 between native 4K and 2560x1440. I think I'll keep it this way as this scaling looks to be the sweet spot between screen real estate and font sizes.

But I was not able to output RGB - I tried to play with the HDR modes, but didn't help.
Hi I right now use a 27" Ultrasharp 2K monitor. 2560x1440. I am trying to decide to just get a second 27" 2k or go 4k 27 or 32". My concern is I won't be able to use it at full 4k. Things will be too small. In 3008x1692 do things large enough but with more real estate? I do web design. That's why I ask. I wish I could try one out. My design friend uses a 27" 4k and I like the options. It does 3008x1692 but even. step below.
