Users mock Apple for making forward-thinking choices. Hate and FUD begins. New people join MR to announce they've been using Apple products for 25 years ( ) and this one decision has now made them jump to Windows/Android.

Industry eventually follows. Apple's choices become ubiquitous. Previous tech seems antiquated in comparison and time proves that Apple made the right choice. Rinse and repeat.

You mean kinda like how Apple followed Lenovo with the Touch Bar?

I have a 2016 rMB and it is serving me well, but looking for something new and I believe a Dell and Windows 10 would be a breath of fresh air for me.

R U serious? W10?? Unless you are not using any advanced system functions, the switch would be quite difficult.

IMHO touch bar in MBP is not so bad.

How so? I find switching difficulty is very dependent on the user.

You are right - IMHO the more advanced is the user the more difficult it would be to switch for him.

If you are using fast typing, advanced shortcuts, and system tricks - it would be nearly impossible for you to change the system.

For example - text editing: in windows doubleclick on a word selects it, and when you hit backspace, you delete it, in mac os doubleclick selects word as well (nice), but backspace deletes this word and a white-space on the left of it (yes, I know, shift...). But if you are a non-visual writer, it's a deal breaker.

On the oposit side - if you are are a slow typist, and f.ex you use option menu to select copy/paste, you will not probably even notice the system change.

Interesting. I'm an advanced user who switched from Windows XP to OS X back in 2003. I had no issues switching even though I used system shortcuts via the keyboard. Then again, I use shortcuts from all systems, including Linux, so it's possible I'm an outlier.

Most Dells are compatible with Linux Mint if you hate Windows. Linux is a breath of fresh air.

Got my XPS 13 9370 two weeks ago, beautiful machine, every thing works fine.
More importantly, dongle life doesn't bother me as worried, so I think upgrading my current MBP 2015 to some newer MacBook model should be fine.

Purchased a 9370 XPS 13 last week. Serious touchpad problems though. I asked for a replacement & they said 2 weeks to sort. I have cancelled & requested a refund. I do think I will swap my MacBook Pro TB 2017 for a 9370 but the quality of the Mac touchpad and going to the Dell equivalent worries me after the problem with my initial Dell machine. Have you had any problems with yours? How do the touchpads compare?

I purchased one of these on Tuesday, three hours later I took it back as it had dead pixels and requested a replacement...

Was back at the store Wednesday morning as the replacement had a swollen battery out of the box. I requested a refund. :/

I tought about the Dell XPS 13. But decided to go with the Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Yoga 3.Gen. - I like the Pen combined with a 4 core i7. Ubuntu works out of the box. If you don't touch the linux thunderbolt adjustments in the EFI - no problems at all.
