yeah, that's the way to choose a laptop .. it's "carbon fiber" ..

I don't understand all these "Macbook vs. Dell XPS 13" threads .. I mean if you're a PC user, get the Dell .. and if you're a Mac user, get the Macbook/Macbook Air/Macbook Pro ..

Microsoft's new "Surface Book Pro" is a gorgeous laptop .. but I wouldn't know how to use it .. the short-cuts, etc .. the software .. their version of Finder .. I'd be so lost ..

I definitely agree. It comes down to the platform that you want.

I'm the opposite when it comes to OS familiarity though. I wouldn't know how to use a Mac! Contrary to what some would have you believe, I don't think that the learning curve is that steep on either platform though. No one designs their OS to be hard to use, after all.

I used Windows exclusively for 20 years. I was amazed at how easy it was to switch. Even the folder structure is now almost exactly the same. I was blown away.

I cannot imagine anyone on this forum have trouble with either.

Used the current XPS 13 earlier in the year for 2 weeks, GREAT little machine, but trackpad was so awful compared to Mac. For whatever reason Adobe reader was a chore to use and scroll through 1000 page PDFs for work (Surface Pro 3 and Surface 3 had same issues, both with Windows 8.1 and Windows 10). I couldn't find another app that is as good as Skim for OS X.

I have a 13" retina MBP that I love. That said, I do need to use Windows fairly often for work, and the MBP is great w/ Windows 10 except for Log Me In Pro, which still suffers from scaling issues.

<Zips up flame suit> The Air is still the best Windows ultrabook in my humble opinion, if you can get past the average TN screen. 13.3", 16:10, 1440 x 900 is the perfect size and resolution for a 13 incher. No stupid scaling issues to deal with and added benefit of Mac trackpad.

I may just keep using my rMBP as my main laptop w/ OS X and get a 13" Air refurb solely for Windows use. Crazy I know!
