wow they really need a mirror... thats slow!
I'm just learning about jaibreaking being that the 3g is my first iphone. Question, so what is the significants to these updates for Pwnage? For example would I want to download this update if I had already jailbroken my iphone from 2.0?Pwnage Tool 2.0.3 has been released. Jailbreaks 2.0.2 Firmware.
oh I see, thanks. So if I had my iphone jb on the previous 2.0.2 I would have waited for the update from pwnage before putting the new 2.0.3 followed by pwnage 2.0.3? hope that makes sense. Each official Apple update tends to 'break' jailbreaks meaning you have to re-jailbreak every update Apple churns out which is why the dev team updates their tool to be usable with the newer firmwares

I just used pwnage 2.0.3 on a jailbroken 2.0.1 iPhone. Everything seemed to go fine, but my newly restored iPhone still says it's running 2.0.1. Anyone have any ideas what's up? I was under the impression that if I ran pwnage it would update the official firmware in addition to jailbreaking.

I'm sorry, but I don't think you understand the way Pwnage works... you're describing something more like QuickPwn...well, not really that either.
Pwnage takes a firmware file, modifies it to contain the bootneuter trojan horse, and whatever else you want in it. Then you restore that firmware onto your iPhone. But whatever version that firmware was before you pwn'd it, it will still be that same version after you pwn it. So to get pwnage to update you to 2.0.2, you have to pwn a 2.0.2 firmware file -- typically by downloading one from Apple (using iTunes or however else) and then pwning it. If you don't do the step of having iTunes get you the 2.0.2 file, Pwnage won't be able to pwn 2.0.2 because it won't have an IPSW file of 2.0.2 with which to work.
Does that make sense?
it wouldn't have made a 2.0.2 ipsw because you probably don't have it on your computer to build since you didn't update to 2.0.2 through itunes. i don't think that apple's going to give the Dev Team a link to their firmware so you can update to it just to jailbreak.
you need to download the latest firmware through itunes- plug in, click download and install, then unplug. it will download it onto your computer. then re-run pwnage and you'll see the 2.0.2 official ipsw and can build a custom one.
I have a 2G iPhone with 2.0.1 firmware that was pwned with pwnage 2.0.2. I've just re-pwned my iPhone with 2.0.3. The install went okay except when I'm at the iTunes point where it asks me to restore my iPhone and I restore my phone with my last backup, it keeps asking me to restore my iPhone. On my iPhone, I've got all of my contacts, calendars, etc. but I can't access the iPhone settings because it keeps wanting me to restore it. What's wrong?

If edtorious's advice above doesn't work, one reason this happens sometimes is that Pwnage created a bad pwn'd IPSW file. This happened to me with 2.0.1 the first time I tried it. If this is the case, you have to have Pwnage create a new IPSW (i.e. run through the Pwnage process again). If you get the same results again, then try changing some minor setting (like add/remove Installer from your build list or something like that).
