The question is. Should I get the digital download or should I pre-order it and get the disk?

I can deal with the download. Hell I downloaded the beta client (took overnight but whatever) so I can do it again but if I need to re-install at some point it would be good to have the disk. Thoughts?

I downloaded it yesterday, and it took less than 2 hours for me. Its a 7.6GB file.

I saved it on my timecapsule in case I need to re-install in the future. I have alot of disk space so I'm fine. Don't know about you though.

You can pre-order if you want, but if your not going for the CE stuff, then I don't see a difference. I didn't care much for CE so I just went ahead and got the digital version instead.

FYI, you can't install it yet, you can only do that when the servers are up on launch day I guess. When i tried to install it told me that I had to wait for official launch or something like that.

That's about the same size as the beta client. I have really ****** internet so it takes awhile. Keeping a copy of the installer is a good idea. I have over 4TB of space including my internals so I have the space for it.

I like having a physical copy but I guess if I can keep a copy of the installer anyway it would be essentially the same. Plus it would allow me to avoid the hassle of going to get the game on launch. I would just need to install.

Exactly, I'm just too lazy to get it at the store.

I rather keep soft copies though. I always find hard copies of my stuff missing. Hehe :p

Just wait till 15 May, wake computer, install, play. :D

Oh and I didnt know beta was the same size. Didn't and won't get to try out the beta though. What are you using to play with? Macbook or Desktop? If its a Macbook, could you tell us what specs, resolution, screen size you are currently using? Hows the beta in terms of performance?

I'm gonna get a high end Macbook either 15" or 17", still undecided. Gonna wanna get some D3 action while I'm not at home, thats why I'm asking.

EDIT: Sorry, my phone posted it twice.

iMac; i7 processor, 8 GB RAM, 6770m GPU. I run it on high settings at native resolution, runs great. The new macbooks should run it fine though. Your main point of concern will likely be the GPU.

For you guys wondering how it might run on a 15" Macbook Pro, I've got the 2.2 i7 version from earlier last year and it runs the game at maximum settings (no AA, but all else maxed, sliders and menus highest on graphics and audio), with frame rates that only drop during immense battles or huge rubble. In these cases, the FPS can sometimes drop to 15, but rarely below 25. The game will probably run better in windows just like starcraft.

Do you have the high-res version or the normal 1400x900 one? Also, how is the heat? Do you use a cooling pad btw?

Very next sentence...

You're going to get it. Even if you don't, Blizzard doesn't care because millions of others will.

My Amazon Collectors' Edition pre-order sent an updated tentative email delivery date of May 18th though. Hm. Not like it matters too much. If I don't have a new computer by then, I wouldn't be able to run it regardless of when it shows up.

I would have preordered the digital download like some others here but I also want the collector's edition so I've preordered with Amazon too. I already have the CE preordered with GAME but due to their current financial situation I don't want to rely on them. I'll probably just cancel that order. As for Amazon's estimated delivery date you could always go for 1st class or next day shipping. I've got the normal free shipping that the moment but may change it. That said I'm sure after waiting this long I can wait a few extra days.

Amazon updated to a release date/May 15 delivery as I figured they would. No worries here.

Is that with regular free shipping, 1st class or next day ?

Mine says estimate dispatch date as the 14th and estimated delivery date as between the 17th and 19th. I have opted for regular free delivery. I might upgrade to 1st class.

I pre-ordered months ago and Amazon's pre-orders are supposed to guarantee delivery on the day of release. The actual order lists my Free 2 day Amazon Prime shipping, but their e-mail called it "Release-Date Delivery" to arrive on May 15th. I expect something I pre-ordered in October to arrive on the release day, but even if it didn't it wouldn't be the end of the world.

Ahh!!! OK. I didn't know you had Amazon Prime. Anyway if I get it a few days after release date it's not really a big deal.

My order will arrived at the release date May 15th, Can't wait to install, and play the game online.

Definite buy i still got my warcraft 3 dvd but it does not run anymore on osx lion i miss it

It runs, you just need to patch it.If you don't have it installed, you will need a Snow Leopard partition to install it first (installer is PPC only).

Just thought I'd let people know what to expect in terms of performance when playing D3 :)

Obviously, the game is still in beta, so refinements in performance are almost certain, but currently, here are my experiences;

My Mac Pro (2.8Ghz Single CPU, 5870, 2Tb HDD) can run D3 with everything on full at 1920x1080. When running it at 2560x1440, things do get a bit choppy, which makes this the first game I've played on this system that actually slows it down.

I've not tested this out on my MacBook Pro Late 2011, but I'm sure it'll run well at 1680x1050.

My older MacBook Pro (2.5Ghz C2D, 8600m GT, 200Gb HDD) can (as the system requirements state) only just run this game with everything set to low or off, which is a bit of a shame. However, this machine was running 10.6.8 at the time, not 10.7.3 (so openGL performance would probably be higher in 10.7.3) and this is only beta software.

I cancel the Diablo III amazon order, and did an order from battle.net a couple weeks ago so I can play the game on release day probably a midnight released so I can install, and play the game when the clock hits 12'o am :D I am happy with my decision, can't wait to play the game, too bad I not let in the beta, and probably not going to be :(, But at least I will have the game on release day.

Was looking forward to this, but the DRM has put me right off.

I think out of all the games of late this is the most restrictive DRM, as I understand it, you have to have an internet connection to play even as single player as a lot of stuff is generated server side.

So if away in a hotel with no connection no D3 for you.

Kimbie

Is anyone playing this on a base model 2011 21.5 inch iMac? I'm really anxious to buy this iMac, but the past few days I've been trying to find out how it'll run Diablo 3. I'm hoping to be able to run it on high, or mostly high.
