If anyone just want to see how their Macs would run, search for "D3Sharp"
It doesn't let you actually play the game, but it is a good way to see if or machine runs Diablo well
In my case, I have a 2010 15" MBP. I can run everything on max + native resolution, averaging ~40 fps. And this is under Bootcamp.

(Btw, insert "Announces beta, doesn't invite anyone" meme here...)

But why run it under Bootcamp? I just mean Blizzard is one of the few companies that get their games running very well on both OS.

i hope, hope, hope i get into the beta. i've been waiting 10 years for this game. i absolutely loved the first two.

Same here.

Oh and they announced today that the possible release got pushed to early 2012 instead of within 2011 like they said might happen. They also extended the beta time too.

The hack is compiled with .NET 4.0. Unless there is a way to compile that under Mac...

I tried closed beta on my 12core 2.93 Pro and it runs perfect :)

Jelous of any one who received a beta, i took part in the Battle.Net beta opt in scheme but neither me nor any of my friends got lucky and they've just moved the release back to early 2012 too.

Game looks amazing from what i've seen, not sure about the whole "Real Money" auction house but it isn't game breaking, just cant wait to do some Arena really.

I suspect they will be sending out more beta invites so I wouldn't give up just yet if I were you. The chances are the beta will be extended as the game in now not due until early next year.

Funny how Blizzard already announced that D3 has been delayed to 2012

Why is it funny ? They already said they hope to release before the end of the year. That said its not really a delay as they never announced a specific release date to begin with. Everyone knows Blizzard is one of those companies that will release their game when they feel its ready and not before.

C'mon, as much as I love and like Blizzard, everybody was sure that D3 was coming out this year. I can't help myself but find it funny to see all that people upset (me included) now that it has been officially delayed to the next year.

Don't really care if it gets delayed or not. Going to buy it no matter what and many of those that said they won't because it was "delayed" will also.

It comes down to Blizzard knows how to make a game and the history of Diablo has such a masssive following people will wait no matter what. Same went for SC2.

don't get too excited. they delayed it again. it won't come out this year (early 2012). I am sick of it. well, what am I care? I won't buy this crap.

So...

Anyone with a D3 key had a change to play it on a mac mini 2011. The 2,5-GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 I mean.. I really want to know this so I know whether to buy one or to let it go and not buy it.

I got in the beta this tuesday through opt-in.

I have never played Diablo before so no comparison notes from me on what is the same and what is different.

However since some posts asked for it; I play the game on my MacbookPro4,1 17" so the minimum specs GPU wise (8600M). The texture quality is set to high all other options to minimum, I do not dare to put the settings higher since it brought SC2 to a crawl and I had to put back a timemachine backup to get it running again lol.

Ok so how does it play?

First I played in windowed mode, I believe it was 800x600. It was ok, but due to the low resolution the text was small and some icons were not clear.

Then I thought to try something bold and put the game in the 17" native resolution of 1920x1200. It ran smooth with a rare hick up every now and then (not related to the number of enemies you fight and also there in the 800x600 windowed mode). The hickups might have been the result of the background downloader loading the last game part. I have to test it again now that the game has been downloaded completely.

It seems that windowed mode gives a performance penalty which seems logical due to having not the full ownership of the screen and was also the case for WoW and SC2.

So all in all I believe that D3 will be a good experience on the low spec machines. Ofcourse I hate being a vampire (no shadows) and I read that I miss some physic effects too like bodies flying around (they just drop dead for me). For me no game breaker.

Update:
The game has been fully downloaded. Ran through the cathedral to find the skeleton king. One fun hour of gameplay (though too easy) without any hickups/stutters. A timemachine backup kicked in halfway, no problem at all. I even turned up the physics settings to high can't say it did much but no negative effects either.
