I have a new unibody MBP, 2.4. I haven't really played many PC Games over the years, but I have recently gotten more interested into it. These two games coming from Blizzard interest me greatly though. Was wondering what you all thought the system requirements will be for these games. I would like to keep rocking the MBP for a gaming machine for awhile, and not have to give in and buy or build a PC for solely that purpose.

Blizzard games typically do not require you to have THE LATEST most powerful CPU or graphics card. Their games tend to be backwards compatible with slightly older machines.... and tend to do well with PCs/Mac models that were sold 1-2 years ago (prior to the release of said game).

Ah, the same old discussion here on the MacRumors Gaming board. Blizzard does a good job of making their games run on a wide range of machines, yes. The problem is that your mileage may still vary depending on your definition of "running well." There are a lot of considerations that go into making a game look good on a PC/Mac. The first for me is resolution (on MBP's and other laptops, running at anything other than native resolution causes a very distracting blurred effect on the entire image). Then we have the major conflict, which is that number two on the list is frame rate. The higher you set your resolution, the lower the frame rate (combined with other factors).

So, to be as honest as I can with the OP, I'd say that depending on your definition of "playable," your MBP could be fine, but you might also be very disappointed.

What I'm trying to say is, don't get your hopes too high, but your machine will be able to play these games (Just don't expect it to look like the Battle Report).

Honestly I've never even heard of Dawn of War, but that looks very promising. Was the original any good?

I've been playing through it over the last week (got the original plus all expansions for $15 on Steam). It's good fun! Plays similar to Warcraft III. I'm excited about this new version because it's coming after Company of Heroes, which I loved. So I hope it's in the same league.
