I got a response to my support case.

Thank you so much for your patience with this. Engineers are aware of the issue and are working to get this resolved. They do not yet have an understanding of what is causing the issue. At the moment I am unable to state when this will be resolved. Once Engineers have a fix for the issue it will come in the form of an update. In the meantime please ensure to keep the Mac updated. Also Engineers may send me an update once the issue is resolved. Thank you so much for bringing this issue to Engineers attention.

There seems to be a lot of issues that the engineers don’t know what’s causing it.

In the month I’ve had my MBA I’ve run into 2 other ones: Siri can’t answer questions about the Mac (it did right after I first set it up, but then stopped) and recently being unable to disable the startup chime.

I have my MBA’s logic board replaced last week and got it back last Tuesday. I noticed that there were over thousand of errors and faults. I tried the diagnostics and it locked up every time. Now it’s back to apple store again. Hopefully they will fix it.
May I ask where you noticed the thousands of faults and errors, and the nature of them?

Do update on your next apple store visit please.

From console app, you can see crash reports and those errors.
They called me yesterday and asked me if they could erase my hard drive. I asked them if they could do configurator 2. One hour later I got email and told me that my MBA is ready to pick up. Will see how it goes today.

ah, yes mine is always full of crash reports and errors.

Iv always thought that was just normal, due to the poor software quality!

I need to get hold of my sisters Mac so I can do a configurator restore...

Hope it works out for you this time round.

Thanks. I just got my MBA back from Apple store. They told me that they did configurator 2 and it fixed the diagnostics issue. No hardware issue. :)

Edit: I spoke too soon. After I update my macOS to 11.3.1, I tried the diagnostics and it still froze up:(

I spoke to another AppleCare advisor yesterday, he acknowledged this is a software issue and that it should be fixed in a software update!

Poor show from apple, this has been broken for months...

Still hangs on my MBA after upgrading to 11.4.

I was previously told by Apple Support that’s it’s a known issue that would be fixed in a future update, but I guess it’s not a high priority.

Yes, very annoying.

I was actually told it was due to be fixed in 11.4! Oh well...

Same issue occurred on my M1 MacBook Pro on 11.4. I had my logic board replaced however issue still persists.
Hope it gets fixed in future update.
