How does that translate into £?
I have tried to find any prices for international users, but no luck.
Thanks!

Rough estimate, type "49.99 USD = ? £" into Google and it'll convert to the equivalent. Assume it's an estimate. When you view the purchase page in 1Password there's a "flag" symbol you can click to have it convert to a particular region. Exact pricing will be in there and it may vary depending on the current conversion rates between USD and the target currency.

Thanks. Surprisingly, I do know how to do that. ;)
Telling me L M G T F Y is not what I was after…
I meant… what is 1Passwords official price. A straight conversion or more i line with what many other companies do USD1 = GBP1

So in other words, hidden away until I commit to purchase?

OK. Thanks

I wasn't going for the L M G T F Y for you angle, I wasn't going to post a price given it could change and likely will over time. It's to prevent users from writing in saying "you said this price" and then wanting us to honor it despite it being a year out of date.

All pricing and conversion is handled through a 3rd party we use for payment and license processing, FastSpring. You'll have the option of purchasing in USD or for some countries the ability to pay directly in your local currency. Prices are available in the app when you get to the purchase page. I'm only comfortable saying $49.99 USD as that one is far less likely to fluctuate around. Once the special launch pricing is done though it'll be $64.99 USD and each local currency will also increase relative to that.

Edit: Because apparently L M G T F Y is somehow not a word one can say on this forum.... super weird.

Looks like the mac app store version of 1password 7 now requires a $3/mo subscription in order to use it. Thats $36/year to rent a password manager. That is a tough value proposition for all but the most diehard 1password fans. (iOS version does not require the subscription). I can understand issues with the app store with the free upgrades model, but a subscription is not what I was hoping for.

There is mention of a licensed version you can get if you are an existing user and want to update to the non-app store version with a fixed license. Cost of doing this? A discounted license of $50 (down from $65). Ouch.

-d

What do you mean ? 1Password is on Mac App Sore "in app purchases" for these amounts.. not a requirement, unless developer has not updated the info yet. At least on mine its saying this.

Those are subscription prices. It used to be you buy it outright, so those of us with 1password 6 did not even see an update in the app store (they made 7 a new app). You have to re-purchase 7 by way of a direct download on their website only. The app store binary will not allow non-subscription purchases.

What do you guys think about Bitwarden? https://help.bitwarden.com/article/how-is-data-securely-transmitted-and-stored/

Keychain is a good option if you're Mac and iOS-only - and definitely easy to use. If you need a cross-platform password manager have a look at Enpass (https://www.enpass.io). They're definitely "1Password-inspired" in terms of their UI design (although not nearly as nice as 1P). But they support iOS, Android, Windows, Linux and macOS. The desktop clients are free and the mobile apps are a one-time $10 purchase.

One other thing I like is that you have your choice of password sync backends: iCloud, Dropbox, Google Drive, Box, OwnCloud/NextCloud, WebDAV and folder sync (whew!). It's also pretty easy to import your 1Password vault.

Not affiliated with them in any way - I just discovered them a couple weeks ago. I haven't been too happy with the direction that 1Password has taken, and Enpass looks like a viable alternative (if a bit rough around the edges).

Is it Enpass that you are talking about with the variety of backends (Dropbox, Google Drive, etc)?

Yesterday I ran into a problem with Windows 10, ended up resetting it and am now in the position of having to install about 20 apps. 1Password 4 (the latest Windows version) installed easily, but I can't get signed into my account, because it won't recognize my secret password, and I need to do that to be able to install a Firefox extension for 1Password. Also I'm not happy that they appear not to have kept the Windows version up to date. I would seriously consider making a switch.

  • You said that it is easy to import your 1Password passwords into Enpass?
  • Does it by chance have a password generator?
  • Does it have browser extensions? This is not a must but is a convienence.

Here is what I posted over in the 1Password Support Forum:
In 2016, I purchased 1Password for both my Mac and PC. On my Mac, I'm using 1Password 6, on my PC, 1Password 4.

I had an issue on my PC that required me to reset it, which meant reinstalling 1 Password 4 which I did without an issue and linked it to my dropbox vault. I have access to my vault.

What I can't do is reinstall the Firefox extension because when I put the requested info in: Email, Secret Key, and Master Password, I get a message that: My email Address, Secret Key or Master Password is not correct. I figure that my email and master password are correct, as I use them all the time especially the master password. The secret key is something I've had since I originally purchased 1Password and it starts with "A3-"

Then I tried to sign into 1Password.com on my Mac, could not for the same reason as above My email address, secret key, or Master password is incorrect. Just to reconfirm, I have access to my vault and this software is functioning, except when it comes to installing an extension in my browser on my PC, because... I can't sign into my account.

So, on my Mac to sign in, I found the directions to use my 1Password app, by going to Preferences to sign into my account there, and it's telling me that my Sign-In Address is incorrect. I had no clue what that was, so I went to the page at 1Password to get my account info, and I received an email that said my Sign-In Address is: "https://my.1password.com" so I tried both that and "my.1password.com" and neither work. Under the Mac 1Password 6 App- Preferences I have entered my Sign-In Address, email, secret key, and master password, and the message is Sign-In address and the message in Sign-In Address is not valid.

At this point, I'm frustrated. Two things here, not having phone support sucks. You need some.
Secondly I'd consider upgrading to 1Password 7, if 1) I could sign into my account and 2) If it can be purchased without a subscription, like when I made my original purchase. I hate subscriptions and this seems to be all the rage in Mac and PC utilities, just a way to milk more money out of customers.

So please help. I don't see my secret key as in error, unless somehow I copied it wrong. I have a file where I keep this kind of info. I don't ever remember being offered an emergency kit and don't have one. It's ironic that I have 2 working versions of 1Password, but that I can't log into my account because something, is screwed up. Yes, it is possible, I don't have my secret key recorded correctly, but It was recorded in 2016 with my original purchase and I assume if I had to use it at some point, it worked before because I was able to sign in at one point.

What next? Thanks

No they didn’t. If you want to buy a license for a stand alone, you have to get it from their store:

https://1password.com/downloads/

FYI: you don’t own the app even when you buy it, you’re buying a license to use it.

They have a whole thread about the new 1Password

https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...asier-access-to-vaults-and-much-more.2119667/

This is the 1st time in 5 years they are charging for an upgrade. Do you expect all upgrades to be free?

Then don’t get the subscription/online version. They are making the stand alone version and you can go that route. No one is forcing you to go either way.

It's a year later and I'm having this issue (post 33) where I have full access to my 1PW Vaults, but I can't sign into my account. At this pricing link: https://1password.com/sign-up/, I don't see a stand alone product, could I after I get signed in? Thanks!

If you don’t have your master key saved (or you copied it wrong) from the security key kit, I don’t think Agilebits can get you access to your original vault. More then likely, you would have to create a new vault.

You can purchase a license for version 7 from them without a subscription.

I highly suggest contacting 1Password on their Twitter account, as they are very active there and you will get the help you seek.

Bitwarden is a very good app. I use it along with 1Password.

Doesn’t Bitwarden do the same job As 1Password? How do they differ?

About 1Password, I have access to my vault on both my Mac and PC. On my PC that I had the issue with, I just reinstalled the app (after downloading it) entered my email and password and everything works fine accessing my vault on Dropbox. It’s when I go to Firefox on my PC and try to install the 1PW browser extension it ask for 4 things, account, email, account, secret key, and master password, and there it tells me I don’t have my account name right, even though I got my account info yesterday in an email from them. So I have posted a question on their support forum and am waiting for an answer.

In the meantime, I’ve looked at Enpass and it seems to work just like 1PW. And it is much more reasonably priced. If I do end up having to export my old vault to a new vault, which I have access to, unless the secret key turns out to be an issue in the export process, then this might be a good opportunity to switch over.

I've been using BOTH Wallet and 1Password. 1Password vs. 6 doesn't seem to sync anymore. I'm writing to the company to see how quickly they respond and how polite the are.

Wallet works great but the sync is manual. I'll decide about the subscription later but they could have grandfathered us in or sent an email.

1Password 6 is syncing fine with iCloud here... I also did not "upgrade" when they went (mostly) to subscription. FWIW, you can still buy licenses but they're since device only and you'd have to buy the next version. Thankfully that has worked out for me so far.

I upgraded to vs. 7 and the syncing starting again. I wrote the company and chastised them a little for sloppy directions for the upgrade and not grandfathering loyal customers in.

However, I checked prices on about 8 password apps and $2.99/mo is lower than most.

I have one month for free but didn't offer my credit card # for charging after the month is up.

I'm going to see how their customer service is and if they are genuine.

If all is good I'll stick with them.
