I've got 40GB more space to fill with porn.

I assume they are backup files, unnecessary registry files and other stuff I wouldn't even know about. Everything else is still there.

Basing it off of my CCC clone I made right before upgrading, looks like I gained about 7GB of free space.

But also, I updated a lot of apps right before I installed ML. Keynote, iPhoto, iMovie RealRacing 2 and XCode all received updates. That could have played a factor as well.

I actually lost 4GB of disk space. I was trying to figure out why. The only thing I did was install Lion, grab the updates for iWork, iPhoto, iMovie, Aperture, and XCode. Strange.

37GB Free'd up here! No idea why, it was a new machine which had only been used a few days with very little installed!

Wow, im not sure what I have done wrong with my installation.

I simply purchased and downloaded Mountain Lion, then created a USB boot drive off my 8GB flash drive, then performed a clean install, making sure that I erased Macintosh HD through Disk Utility, then continued on with the installation, my drive is 250GB and right after the clean install, its showing 19GB used ?!?!?

Help ? lol

ML creates an extra restore hidden partition with an OS on it. Plus, the 8GB is highly compressed... so that gets larger when unpacked. You're good.

My install log shows 15.75GB more free space after the upgrade. Nice catch!
