My only regret with my 8 Plus and I guess I'd have the same regret if I had gotten the X is that the BT 5.0 radio doesn't seem to like my 2016 Acura TLX and won't stay connected to the car and goes through endless cycles of disconnecting and reconnecting every 60-90 seconds over and over. Won't stay connected to my wife's 2012 Nissan Murano and does the same thing. Of course no help from Apple on this and they blame all the auto manufacturers and state the problem is on their side when the BT should be backwards compatible with these cars.

Didn't have this issue with my 7 Plus and this issue is quite annoying. But since the same BT radio is in the X, I'd still be in the same boat if I got that phone instead. Other than this, I love the phone, especially the camera, it really is more than just a marginal improvement over the 7 Plus camera wise.

I feel like I'm lowering my IQ by clicking on some of these threads.

Why is this 1,000 price so much of a concern now. Many threads and posts on it. I paid 980.00 for my 6s Plus, 128gb over two years ago. A two generation old iphone. I don't remember all the clamor about price back then. May be wrong on that.
Because people bought the 16gb and complained about it later! LOL!

I have always went for the higher tier phones, or at the very least middle tier. Which was already nearing $1k

Y’all do realize if I had “regrets” as some may think there always eBay. I don’t want the X for safety reasons.

You wised up and realized the 8+ was the better phone once the new and shininess of the X wore off.

I bought a used 128GB iPhone 7 with one year of Apple Care for $480 on eBay. I would absolutely regret spending that much for an 8 just for wireless charging and True Tone and a 25 to 30% faster processor.

Thanks for reminding me that my iPhone 7 128gb (with almost a year of Apple care left, and the original unopened accessories in the box) is worth enough to justify taking some pics and listing it.

This thread made me admit that my $750 iPhone actually cost me $1000 when we count apple care, sales tax, and my “requisite” Apple leather case.

Well, to be fair, isn't that what regret is basically about--wanting to get something and getting it (especially if it cost a lot and/or involved a lot of effort to obtain) and then for one reason or another, or many reasons, realize that it's not quite what you expected and/or that there's something else out there that would actually be better fitting for you?

Your response is not in line of what I was referring to. When someone purchases a $1000 device, they have a general knowing of what they are investing into. Regardless, regret on a tech forum is more prevalent because of what someone chooses to read into all the negativity versus someone who would likely be completely content with something they make their own judgement on versus being influenced by others perceptions and views that instill doubt about their purchase. Huge differences outside a tech forum.

I guess there are just different aspects of regret basically. There's the regret in the sense that you are describing, and basically the one that I mentioned. It depends on which one the thread is aimed at really, but I guess in a general sense either kind can apply.

I held an iPhone 8 today in space gray. It's a beautiful phone. I wouldn't fault anyone for buying it.

Monthly isn’t a bad option for some but I honestly wanted to just buy it out right. And with Apple care plus I feel pretty secure Incase I break it accidentally
To each their own. My point was some people were complaining that the iPhone X was too expensive. If that’s the case I am spending only half and using it for a full year. I also bought AppleCare+ as at end of year I have to return a working unbroken phone to AT&T.

There are options which include not spending over $1,000 - 1,200 for the phone.

Well you're spending half to rent it for a year. Someone who pays full price and uses it for 3 years (not abnormal for a smartphone user) gets more value out of paying full price; especially after they flip it or trade it in.

Not really you completely fail to realize any user can continue to pay the second 12 months and own the phone. Third year there would be no payments.

Pay it all up front with your own money. Or pay monthly with zero interest. Result is same, you own the phone. No you are not renting it. You own it from day one. Leave AT&T and you have to pay balance. Only difference to can trade for new phone after 12 payments. You can pay off anytime you wish.

Will you get $600 for the used phone after 12 months by selling yourself? Maybe, maybe not. With this plan it’s a sure thing. If you decide to trade in. You don’t have to e to.

All about options. Especially nice as you use other people’s money for 24 months.
