I find it interesting that folks would quibble about matters so trivial.
It reveals more about them, than it does about Apple.

It's much more important to me as to what's INSIDE the Mac, and also what kind of connectivity (ports) it has on the outside. The more, the better.

This is some of the dumbest 1st world problem complaining I've ever seen from Apple users.

OH NO! The area surrounding my $2,000 computer is white! How will I ever manage to post my avocado breakfast sandwich on Facebook now?!

Lots of "Pro" products Apple made had silver borders.

While not "Pro" in name, the Cinema Display was used with their "Pro" desktops.

And let's not forget the Studio Display.

I'll bet I've been using Macs longer than you've been alive.

I, personally, care a whole lot about BOTH. But I do think many take it way too far. For example, I've seen several members here call the new iMac "hideous" or some other extreme adjective. Although it's obviously a subjective opinion, I'd categorize that as quite an outlier, extreme opinion and quite frankly amusing.

Whilst it's great to reminisce, the majority of Apples user base today arrived post-iPhone, never knew anything prior to the current design (current as in 21/27"). So they don't care what was available in the past or in what colour.

Everything has been grey/black for most. So understandable why there is such a negative reaction to this major change.

The only reason why Apple computers are worth that much is because of the outward presentation.

Pre-YouTube, blogs, and social media people would (GASP!) look at a product and decide for themselves whether or not they liked the way it looked. I know that is shocking, but the system seemed to work for decades.

In regards to bezels and "chins" on computers in general: in order for someone to maintain a 6-7 figure income being a Youtuber, you have to crank out a large number of videos. If your YouTube channel is based around reviewing and discussing technology, you have to find minute and essentially irrelevant differences between different products in order to be able to continue cranking out the volume of videos you need, as for the average person most new technology performs exactly the same. So hence "bezels bad", "high refresh rate screen is essential so you can scroll up and down the screen purposelessly and it looks better while doing so", etc, etc.

The lovely C. Cole :)

I am an iMac G5 survivor.

it had thick white bezels but I never noticed as I was too busy looking at the nice bright LCD screen (for the time). Ditto it’s thick white chin.

I don't understand why white bezels are so controversial. Its clear apple is going with an old school vibe with these Macs with the colours similar to the original iMac in 1998.

Were these hated back in the day or something? The whole device was white now it seems everyone just wants black everything.
I mean it should be obvious why people are complaining now, and not then:

once you go black you never go back.

they got a taste for big black bezels and no scrawny white bezel will satisfy them now.

I never liked the black borders on the MBP and iMac. at the time when they started doing that, I thought it gave the computer a raccoon kind of a look.

I always liked the white borders, they they had on so many of their computers, but something about they way they are done on these iMacs is strikingly odd. maybe it’s the pastel color that makes it off putting. I can’t decide. I may have to see it in person to have a final opinion.
