I was able to configure my 13 inch 2.13Ghz 256GB MBA exactly as my MBP is configured. This includes Windows 7, which I run concurrently with OS X apps in Fusion's Unity mode. I was delighted to discover that, despite having only 4GB of RAM, the MBA is as fast and capable as the MBP ever was. This means that for most purposes the MBA will replace the MBA. I do, however, still use the MBP to copy CDs into iTunes, so it will still be used regularly for that but few if any other purposes.

I fell in love with the new MBA during the keynote. I fell fully under Steve Reality Distortion Field. (Not the First Time) I went out the first night to the Apple Store and the fix was in. I had to have one.
When I got to work the next day I mentioned that I was going to get rid of the 13 "Pro and the older 15" as well. I sold the 15" then and there for $800 (3 1/2 years old) and went home and gave the newer 13" to my daughter.
At that point I needed a new laptop didn't I?
I got the maxed out MBA last Monday night at my local Apple Store and we are all happy. It is a sweet machine that meets my needs. :D

Did you get the 11 inch or the 13 inch "maxed out" version of the MBA? Based on heavy use over the last 4 days of my "maxed out" 13 inch MBA I couldn't be happier with it.

They are two different animals. The MBA is the perfect adjunct for a desktop Mac Pro or iMac. I have had this combination for more than a year and it works very well. I do all my heavy lifting on the desktop and my routine stuff on the MBA while on the road. The two compliment each other. I do have the flash storage instead of a hard drive and I really like how well it works. I won't be buying a new MBA since I don't need it at this time I don't believe it is for anyone who wants this as their only computer.

I'm very tempted to replace my Late 2009 MBP with the new Air...

Not worth the cost, though. I've only had the Pro a year. I'll keep it another year or two and see what's available then... hopefully by that time the new Pro will look more like the current Air. :)
