Bought the MP 1,1 *new* the day it was released in 2006 for ~ USD 2,7K. I Maxxed it over the past ten years.

Last Summer, I found a guy on eBay near me that generously parted with (to me) a pristine 2012 5,1 (2.45 2x6C; 96GB) and a (like) 27" ACD for USD 2,0K. The addition of two x5675's and a 980ti brings me to where I am, now.

Apart from 1-2 FBDIMM's failing on a quadri-annual basis (and the lack of support for 10.12.+.+), the 1,1 still is a stone-the-fsck'n-crows-at-home Beast <smile>

My 2008 (4,1) 2x2.8 I bought new, which I still have and has been mostly rock solid. My latest 2012 (5,1) 2x3.46 was purchased used early this year and I've had major problems with it. I now regret this purchase, but only from the seller who runs his business reselling Macs. I would now only buy from an actual user of the computer, not a reseller.

When Apple releases their 2018/2019 7,1, I will be buying that brand new.

interesting poll results imo.

only half the macPros here are bought from apple?

idk, you guys might want to rig/skew this poll somehow in order for apple to also consider the 'what we want' threads around here ;)

Bought mine new through Microsoft (!) who had an Apple discount for employees, a couple weeks before leaving. It's been a great machine and even better now with upgrades. It's easily as fast if not faster than most of the development VM's available to me through corporate IT.

May I ask, which reseller?

If it won't get them in trouble...?

Midtown Digital on Yonge Street in Toronto. Must have come in from a business customer on a trade. The staff did a great job of staying past closing time to freshen it up, install the graphics card and pair up bluetooth KB & M. Great service! They also had reams of 1.1 cMP boxes in there for anyone looking for a great case.
