I haven't gotten rid of my iPad, but I probably will within the next year or so. I've found I need to pare down my gadgets and technology use, or risk becoming just another battery plugged into the matrix. ;)

I would recommend another option: I got rid of my iPad because it became redundant in my digital life, or some wording to that end. As in, someone got an iPhone+ and found that the bigger screen made his/her iPad redundant.

I did not get rid of my iPad, instead I wanna get rid of my iPhone 6 and wait for SE2...

This is up there with some of the worst polls I've seen on MacRumours. Just delete the thread and lets pretend it never happened...
Can not change it now, will create a proper topic when this one gets deleted/closed. :x

Ever since I got my 10.5" IPP last year over the holidays, I had not touched my 2013 rMBP. I actually just sold it last week, so I have an all iOS setup currently.

I got rid of my iPad as it's much easier to dust off the table than dust off the iPad.

I originally bought an iPad back in gen 1 days because I hoped I would be able to use it as a productivity device. This usage has never worked out for me.

But I've continued to buy and use iPads because I'm happy with them being pure consumption devices for me.

The only iPad I still have is the mini 4. I mainly use it as my homekit hub though... I need my macbook for 3D modeling and essentially any other browsing at home and my iPhone for more mobile viewing. In the past, I did go all in with the iPad for everything (with the companion surface pro 4 for my 3D modeling). But I eventually sold my surface to replace it with a mac, and suddenly everything on my mac was much easier to do than when compared to the iPad, so I stuck with the Mac from then on and sold my 12.9" iPP. Once the iPhone X came out, I upgraded my iPhone SE and suddenly my mini rarely sees use.

Got rid of my Macbook Pro, kept my 10.5" iPad Pro. I still use a Macbook Air because my job forces me to. Otherwise, I wouldn't have one at all.

I'm not getting rid of it, but it also didn't replace my computer as I had hoped it would so I could pare down items. It's functional for consuming and some edits... but I'm really hamstrung without a mouse as I use excel very frequently.

I did sell my iPad Air and go without an iPad for about 9 months back in 2014-2015. The main reason was even after 5 major revisions (iOS 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8), the iPad was still stuck firmly in “large iPhone” territory. At the time, I had a plus sized iPhone and a MacBook Pro and didn’t feel like the iPad added much. However, the multitasking features of iOS 9 and the impressive hardware of the Air 2 brought me back into the fold. The Air 2 was a wonderful device, but it wasn’t until the iPad Pro that the iPad became an indispensable part of my workflow. I take tons of notes for my job and the ability to write accurately with the pencil, search my handwritten notes, and convert them to typed text is an absolute godsend. Today, I rarely need a mobile computer so I’ve gotten an iMac for photography work and have recently bought an iPad Pro 12.9” 2nd gen after finding an insanely good deal on swappa. I’m going to see if it can really fill in for the very few times that I would need a laptop. Loving it so far but only time will really tell!

You and me both. Sometime after I got my Air 1 I decided that iOS wasn't making enough strides for me to want to own an iPad AND a laptop AND a smartphone anymore, so I sold it. I regretted it within weeks. Didn't realize how well it fit into my life for so many things and once it was gone, it left a HUGE hole in my daily workflows.

Eventually I ended up buying an iPad Pro and selling the Macbook Pro to pay for it!

Until the 2017 12.9 iPad Pro, I was not productive and felt like I did not need an iPad.

Now I am slightly more productive and it helps with school and relaxation (drawing). I may have a get a smaller iPad for school work during my commutes because that 12.9 is too big to deal during that time. If iPads had native phone call capabilities I would ditch the iPhone stat.

I just got rid of a 17 12.9 pro and 2 x 10.5 pro's, bought a 3 month old 17 9.7 and a new 18 9.7 both 32GB 4G for $580aud, that's all we need the pros were overkill. Picked up $1680 change over.

Nothing will replace my 5K 27" iMac in my home/office, love this thing. Just replaced my wife's 09 21" iMac with a refurb 13" MacBook pro 2015 model.

Actually, rather than getting rid of any iPads, I've just added an iPad Mini 4 to my little "family" of iPads (12.9, 10.5).... I use both of the other iPads quite a bit, along with my computers, and recently I became aware of a couple of situations which will be coming up where I realized it would be best for a few reasons to have the smaller iPad Mini 4. Picked up the iPad Mini 4 today at a good price at Microcenter and already she is fitting quite nicely into the family......

I've been an iPad fan since the first iPad in 2010 and when the first-generation iPad Mini arrived on the scene, I snapped up one, which I later replaced with the iPad Mini 2. Skipped the iPad Mini 3 and found that I wasn't using my iPad Mini 2 much once I had an iPhone 6 Plus and later an iPhone 7 Plus, so it went to a friend.... Now time has moved on and usage patterns have changed somewhat, anticipated needs have changed somewhat and so I've now got an iPad Mini in the household once again. I'd forgotten how much I enjoy handling the iPad Mini -- the small dimensions really offer some advantages my larger, more powerful and more current iPads don't. Would I want it or any iPad as my only device? Absolutely not! Each has its own role to play and each also complements the iPhone as well as Mac computers.....

I seem to buy a Mini, use it overseas for a week, get home, not touch it for 6 months and then sell it. I have done this 3 times in a row now...
