I did sell my iPad Air and go without an iPad for about 9 months back in 2014-2015. The main reason was even after 5 major revisions (iOS 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8), the iPad was still stuck firmly in “large iPhone” territory. At the time, I had a plus sized iPhone and a MacBook Pro and didn’t feel like the iPad added much. However, the multitasking features of iOS 9 and the impressive hardware of the Air 2 brought me back into the fold. The Air 2 was a wonderful device, but it wasn’t until the iPad Pro that the iPad became an indispensable part of my workflow. I take tons of notes for my job and the ability to write accurately with the pencil, search my handwritten notes, and convert them to typed text is an absolute godsend. Today, I rarely need a mobile computer so I’ve gotten an iMac for photography work and have recently bought an iPad Pro 12.9” 2nd gen after finding an insanely good deal on swappa. I’m going to see if it can really fill in for the very few times that I would need a laptop. Loving it so far but only time will really tell!
