WOW. I just purchased Dark Reader for Safari on my phone, what an incredible extension. I have it set to auto to match my day / night mode settings and have it set to black background. All websites so far look perfect. Thanks for mentioning this one.

Agree re: the flat screen and square edges, I love the build quality of my 13 PM. This is what is keeping me from getting a Pixel 6 Pro, I need the flat screen. Will maybe consider the regular 6 but I'd like the larger battery on the Pro.

I'm thinking maybe trading in my 12PM for a 13PM for the 120hz display, brighter screen, and bigger battery. Surprisingly my battery life on my 12PM is just ok, not bad at all, but not amazing either. By dinner time or evening my battery will be down to 25% to 30%, I use it a lot at work for texts, phone calls, e-mails, some GPS Navigation, surfing the web, etc... but don't use it crazy amount, so to me the battery life isn't as good as I would expect for a Pro Max phone. I hear the 13PM battery life is significantly better.

As far as the Pixel 6 line, for sure I'd go for the regular 6 with the flat screen, plus it as a 4,600mAh size battery and a 1080p screen, so I would think the battery life should be really good, if on par with the Pixel 5a battery life that'd be amazing.

I was helping a user at work with her Galaxy S21 so I got to play around with it. 120hz is nice, what I noticed was when I set it to 60hz it’s noticeably less smooth than my iPhone 12 PM. The 12PM almost feels like a 90hz screen by comparison.

omg there is so much JUNK pre installed.. there are literally 3 mail apps, 2 galleries, 3 browsers and bunch of advertising. Hated that. It was a Verizon version.

That's why I went with a Pixel 5a instead of a Note like I wanted... :(

I opted to trade in my 12 PM to Apple rather than sell it. I got $840 for it (they included tax which was nice). Probably would’ve come close to that if I sold it with fees and shipping. All things considered, the upgrade cost ~$300, very much worth it.

Love the 120hz refresh rate, about time Apple implemented it. Battery life is noticeably stronger on my 13 PM compared to 12 PM.

One thing I forgot to mention was the hole punch on the S21 is of course less noticeable than the notch. But it still bothers me, I can’t wait for full screen phones with under screen cameras that are actually good.

I would have traded in but I don’t like the deeper notch.

Cool thing about Android 12, is the fast cool theming;

That's a HUGE bonus owning Apple tech, the trade in. It's not even close on the Google side. I checked and my 4a 5G max trade in is $175 and that's if they don't find something wrong. IIRC, I paid 499. My 4a is worth $125 max and I paid $349.

I sent in my OG iPad Air to Apple and they say it's worth $65. That's a 6 yr old iPad. Google would just laugh at me. My 3 yr old 6th Gen iPad which I paid $300. Last week it was worth $160 in trade, now it's down to $150. That's a 50% depreciation for 3 yrs. It's tough to beat that.

Trade in value for Apple tech has its advantages and a certain pull to get you to buy their stuff. It's been that way for at least that I can remember.

I've said this myself. My iPhone 12 Pro Max takes kinda poor mediocre photos, and my Pixel 5a takes fantastic pics.

To me the Pixel 5a vs. 12 Pro Max photography is no comparison. The Pixel is the clear winner, head and shoulders better.

But the thing is, I do like this iPhone 12 Pro Max. The build quality is super high end. The beautiful display great. The smoothness of the UI is very fluid. The battery life really good. It’s an excellent smartphone no doubt.

But maybe it’s just me with iOS and so used to the Nexus / Pixel UI smartphone. I’m just so comfortable running stock Android and iOS feels outdated or frustrating to use at times.

Sorry I’m just rambling now ?
Funny reading thru this whole thread, couldn't agree more. I run both platforms and like you really like the IP hardware but the OS is just so archaic. It was revolutionary when it first came out but they've been piling layer upon layer of bad ideas ever since, now they're running out of corners to swipe in from to support new features that Android easily handles, just so ass-backwards. I have a Pixel 6 coming in on Monday, with the 5 going back in trade. My IP12 will stay for occasional use or replacing broken family phones. One thing, I have discovered using AirTags for travel (put them in all my bags) and they are a fantastic product, so I will be using the iPhone for travel, or at least bring one along and tether it to my Pixel to get AirTag status. Maybe someday down the road iOS will get the ground-up rebuild it desperately needs, but with recent Apple software I'm not holding my breath.

Now that I have both the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, I sold my iPhone 12 Pro Max to a great work friend.

I really liked the hardware of the 12 Pro Max, but iOS just sucks, I don't plan to get another iPhone for a long time, unless iOS 16 or 17 finally brings it out of the stone age.

iOS needs work for sure. I did however recently buy a MacBook Air M1 (mostly on a whim because like iPhones I always liked the hardware)...and this thing is awesome. Really really nice laptop...I'm a committed PC guy but happily the OS is less and less critical to day to day work, I can just as easily work on this Mac as any PC I have at the office or home. Mac OS supports all the big cloud services so it's just so easy. Mac has some nice integration features with iPhones and iPads but nothing I can't live without. It's just fun to mix things up every now and then...;)

Only way I come back to an iPhone is more seeing future iOS releases than the actual new iPhone 14 or 15 phone.

The hardware, design, and build quality are fantastic from Apple. It's iOS I think still needs a massive overhaul with major updating to get me back.

Agreed. I used to think that if they cancelled CSAM permanently I would go back, but now I have gotten too used to files apps that actually work and the overall feature set of Android 12.
