Didn't realise you had the mk1 and mk2 Z6. Apart from the extra SD card (which would be a must for me), notice much difference between them?
I got the ii in March. To be honest I do so much manual focus that the cameras are nearly identical to me. The AF is supposed to be better on the ii and there is a firmware update I still need to do for it that improves it even more. My son has recently started mountain biking so I am going to go out with him this week some time to take photos for him.

I found the AF on the original Z6 far better than my D800 so I'm pleased either way. I also don't use the tracking modes very often which is where the improvements have been in terms of firmware. I just use a single focal point and track manually. But I will play with some of the tracking modes when I go out with him.

Close. I don't know that you would ever use this much power though.
I'd rather use a full frame sensor camera though.

At this point I would move to a cinema camera if I was doing serious video work.
My first thought when looking at that - other than the 1" sensor - was how will the fit on my gimbal stabilizer...it won't.

While looking at Sony's site ran across this which really addresses the question. https://pro.sony/ue_US/insight/filmmaking-tips/den-lennie-shooting-video-tips

It directly compares a Sony professional camcorder vs an A7III (not even the sIII) - strengths and weaknesses of both, discussed in detail in a series of related tutorial videos. There are 9 related tutorials including form factor, recording media, shutter speed, white balance, recording audio, etc.

Brand doesn't mater and could be mixed brand - Panasonic (or Canon) camcorder paired with a Nikon. It appears to be a good overview and somewhat timely as about to delve more into video. Budget wise, a new camera/camcorder is not in the picture and will "make do" with a Sony a7rIII, a6000 (may upgrade...and awaiting rumored announcement) and iPhone 12 with the iphone, and possibly the a6000, used for B-roll.

I think it's telling to see how popular DSLRs, and now MILCs, have become for even feature films. Back when the Canon 5D Mk II came out, it was hot stuff and was being used for serious video/movie purposes. A quick look at Wikipedia mentions some segments of SNL, parts of the 7th season of House, and all of Hawaii 5-0 being shot with one.

I don't really do video, but for the times when I need to, it's nice to know I have ready access to a good movie camera in my bag. I don't have anything now that can do 4K, but I at least have cameras that can do 1080p.
