Personally I think it is HILARIOUS that people judge a phone on what it looks like. IDGAF as long as it performs and does what I need it do to.
Then you are definitely in the minority of Apple enthusiasts. Cosmetics always seem to be the most important thing here. We literally had people returning the phone for fingerprints.

I hate vibrant / saturated colors on phone designs so I guess I’m on apples side, I really like the more subtle colors. Stronger saturation color designs look tacky and childish to me.. Apple is moving toward a more professional "industrial" appearance

With that said, I think my white iPhone X looks and feels stunning without a case.. my 15 pro natural will be showing up within an hour and I’ll see how it compares in terms of look+feel (I did check them out at Apple store but mainly was just comparing colors and size/weight)

Please let us know here what you think. IMO, the iPhone X colors were great, except the gold one which they messed up.

If they are moving towards a professional/industrial appearance, why bother with 5 or 6 colors? Why not just black and white and be done with it instead of 5 shades of silver sprinkled in with bad choices of blue, yellow, green, pink?

If they didn’t have any color options people would be even more upset.. the original iPhones were only released in black and then later with a white option. I’m sure they would love to just have black and white but their customers want colors!

Btw at the Apple store I actually thought the white pro looked best (and blue for the non-pro), but I’d already ordered the natural and there was a long wait for white. I’ll see how I like it when I have it in my hand in normal lighting!

The customers want a ton of other stuff which Apple isn't giving us. The colors are not because customers want them, but they are a distraction. Lookup "paradox of choice" on youtube. This is a standard practice. In the old days BMW had only 3, 5, 7 series cars. Now they have 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, x1, x2, x3, x4, x5, x6, x7, x8 -- and NONE of them drive as well as their old 3, 5, 7 cars.

I’m just saying that clearly it helps drive sales otherwise they wouldn’t be offering it. Obviously a lot of people care about the color and aesthetics of their phone judging by this thread and countless others. Personally it isn’t a major aspect to me for choosing a phone.. I was happy to see that the weight came down significantly on the 15 (and slightly smaller body), that mattered to me a lot more than looks. But generally I like the clean aesthetics of non-colors anyway like white black and silver, more showy colors don’t appeal to me as much.

Also titanium seems like a great compromise in that it’s a higher quality material than aluminum, and a lot lighter than stainless steel. Seems like a logical choice for pro series.

Indeed. It is a confusion tactic that works very well and has been employed across all industries--autos, apparel, appliances, electronics, etc. Because true innovation doesn't happen and quality is being reduced, manufacturers have to resort to such gimmicks.

I just realized you’re the OP of this thread.. I guess that kind of explains the comments, but it also doesn’t make sense because if you view colors as a worthless marketing tactic, then why are you so bothered by them? Just get white or black 🤷🏻‍♂️

With the 15, there is no white.

I went from a 12P to a 15P and didn’t realize how much bigger the camera lenses are from the 12P, until I received the 15P.

I upgraded to a 15 Pro from a 12 Pro. I love this 15P. Screen, battery, feel, weight, speed—all much improved. After the iPhone X, this is probably my favorite phone. It may not be as big of a deal coming from a 13/14 but for me it’s a big upgrade. I’m very happy with it.

I wish all the phones were either aluminum or even better, plastic. Why can’t they use recycled plastics?

Regardless, I would like to see the phones as light as possible.
Or better yet, use cardboard made from the recycled toilet paper inner roll. You can rub the scratched right out and it will flatten down easily to fit almost anywhere.

I love my 15PM WAY more than my 14PM in a lot of ways. My Dad is enjoying the 14PM I sent to him.

Battery is on par if not better than my old phone and just yesterday 10 hours SOT and was at 30% battery left. I was using AOD as well w/o widgets.

I’ve opened it up and been using for a few hours now. First of all, I have to say honestly the iPhone X (white) is the sleeker phone.. it’s just too pretty, and I was surprised how much thinner it is than the 15 pro.

But, that’s without a case. And the truth is that the X is TOO sleek and slick to realistically use without a case.. it’s very smooth and slippery so although the design materials are prettier (and very shiny), it’s not very practical.

The 15 pro on the other hand is about the same weight (15g heavier), but the materials and thickness seem to enable it to be more usable without a case. I feel like I can use it naked because it has more grip. And it’ll look better than any phone that uses a case.

I still think I would’ve preferred the white one but the natural does look quite nice in many angles, it’s more refined rather than showy.

The sides do feel somewhat more plastic than metallic I have to say, probably due to the coating.. but again that helps a lot with grip. The back in natural, however, actually looks more like metal than glass.

And the screen is just beautiful.. I thought maybe I should go max at one point but nah.. plenty big enough (bigger than X). Phone is about same width as X, but slightly taller.

Edit: also FYI, no heat coming from it yet.. running cool as a cucumber

That's the thing - some people complain each year that the phone is just an incremental upgrade, but they still upgrade every year.

Either upgrade every year and enjoy the small changes, or wait a few years until it becomes worthwhile for you.

I'll be upgrading my iPhone 11 (non-pro) either later this year when there are offers on the 15, otherwise I'll get the 16. It'll be a huge upgrade for me as it'll be all the incremental changes from the 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 all rolled into one.

I am holding onto my deep purple 14 Pro until the wheels come off. It’s the colour I wanted forever. Even if I’d been in the market though, the colours are meh. I miss the super bright 5C hues. That blue, man…

1. No one uses an iPhone naked, they all wind up in a case.

2. These are glass rectangles and forever will be, all that matters is the OS.

*raises hand*

I use my iPhones caseless and no screen protector. Have for years.
I’d be that only a very small percentage of people use their phones ”case-less”. For the vast majority….they’re only going to see the back/side of the phone when they 1) First pull it out of the box before slapping a case on it. 2) Take the case off to sell it.

Me too. I had a bumper on iPhone 4 but iPhone 5s, iPhone SE1 and iPhone SE3 have been used without a case.

Yes!! The 5s and SE1 were iconic…in my opinion. Those phones seem to have been made to use without a case😊. I’ve got the 13 mini. Honestly, It’s still too big😊. I wish it were more the size of the 5s…..although, it’s surprisingly close!!!

I never use a case

I have dropped the SE3 (and continue to drop it) way more than I dropped the 5s and SE1 combined. The SE3 is like a bar of soap compared to the 5s/SE1.
