I have only ordered one build to order Mac. That was my iMac I jsut bought. It was built fast and shipped quickly. It arrived signature required. I inspected it for signs of damage on the box outside box before signing. These machines are so well packed that they will not be damaged without the box being visibly smashed. My box was fine.

I scurried into my home office, opened up the box and gave the machine some time to warm up to room temperature. It was cold that day and I was worried about condensation ruining my day by breaking the machine. Once it was warmed up I turned it on and gave the iMac a test. It has worked flawlessly since then. I love it and am so glad I ordered it exactly the way I wanted it.

My only suggestion for Apple would be to make the outer box a regular rectangle and fill the gaps with packing foam. This way it just looks like a big boring box and not like a iMac box. If people where familar with the iMac box shape they might suspect what it was and have it "fall off" the back of the truck.
