Can you hear the fans at that rpm? Also, I see you're running OS 10.6, do you have an issue where whenever you start the Air the system volume is set to the max level regardless of how low it was at shutdown?

I think part of my fan issues were caused by my backgrounds that are used to changing every 5 seconds. Never had issues with this on my other computers but I've since gotten rid of that and it seems to be doing much better.

Our base RPM is 2500RPM. So I'm just slightly above it. Anything under 4000 RPM is hardly audible.

I don't seem to have that problem. I tend to silent my system when I shut down to disable the "BONGG" in the beginning.

I don't have any background programs running except Dashboard w/ 4 widgets (3 weather + iStat).

That's interesting, I may reinstall the OS, sounds like I'm having some isolated issues. Thanks
