I don't think this is a RAM issue. I have just done it on my MacBook Pro with 512MB. However the MacBook Pro might be a tad slow but that RAM is sufficient to run Boot-Camp and the installer.

What version of Windows XP are you using. I have done it without a hitch. Make sure that you have the latest Firmware and Software updates on your machine.

Is your Windows install CD damaged?
