I'm still on 22.022 and the automatic download is working well. This release is before the newer planned release which cleans things up a bit.
New files added on a different machine immediately show up, fully downloaded in the OneDrive cache folder -
~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.OneDriveStandaloneSuite/OneDrive.noindex/OneDrive
The user folder at ~/Library/CloudStorage/OneDrive-Personal only gets a size zero file with a cloud showing next to it. Clicking on the cloud results in the full version of the file to appear there, without triggering any internet download. My understanding is that it just sets it up as a clone of the version I already have on disk in the cache folder.
This latter size-zero file is what messes up Spotlight since it does not index the cache folder. Spotlight is not made aware of the contents of the file until the "download" from the cache folder finishes.
