I don’t understand what you mean. Adding a user to what and how? Where does this icon appear? Could you elaborate, or show a picture?

when I first turn on the computer I see 2 icons before, after your method, one says diskpassword one says guest. I click diskpassword enter and it brings me to the login page where I have to enter username and password.

now I'm trying to add a user to the computer but instead of being a discreet login it has created an login icon on the first page I see does that make sense?

I'm basically trying to thwart *******s at customs who think it's ok to go through your computer this way I can just go into a dummy account, not that I have anything to hide, I just think it's offensive and invasive so they can go look at an empty account

I have never used it but VeraCrypt has plausible deniability encryption. Espionage too (another app).

Can you type the following commands and tell me the results?

sudo fdesetup status
sudo fdesetup list

It may be that FileVault returns to its standard behaviour once you start adding users again.
