Yeah.. because that's what people think when they see OS X.. uniX .........

[ReactionToSarcasm] Nope, they don't, but it OS X is simply nice name, OS XI looks, IMHO at least, awful... It's something like with Adidas. Should they increase number of stripes with every collection they create? Because that's something similar. Product name (Mavericks, Snow Leopard ...) is there for customers and version number ( 10.9, 10.10 ...) is for developers to distinguish each version. Microsoft also doesn't have Microsoft Showcase instead of Windows just because it is bigger ( and some people assume that bigger = better) ...

I think Apple should call their next version OS Twelve. Just to mess with everyone obsessing over OS Eleven. Or just stick with OS X indefinitely.

OS XI sounds and looks terrible.

Most people refer to "OS X" as a brand name, just like "Windows".
"Mac OS" sounds oldschool, just like the "iPhone OS" (which ofc has been changed to "iOS"), but how else would we call Apple OS for computers in general if we had OS XI?

I believe there are other alternatives, we could preserve OS X but change the numbering scheme, let's say "OS X 11". In theory it's of course 10.11, but on paper it would be simply OS X 11.0, cause X already stands for "10" (OS X.11 if you like), that would actually be pretty neat.
