Sounds like the ram isn't seated properly.
Don't over-react.
Should I reseat it myself, or should I bring it to an Apple store? I don't want to ruin my warranty.
That sounds good. The first thing you should always do with a new computer is make sure it's not DOA. Don't install any hardware until you make sure it works in its stock configuration.Apple said that they would give me an instore replacement. Cool.
who's a troll, the guy with 47 posts?!? not really. The guy had problems with a brand new mac, he has a right to come and talk about it.
OP, if you haven't already- call applecare!!
That's good to hear. I hope the first DOA MacBook didn't sour your thoughts on Apple too much.Ok, I got a new macbook! It's an awesome machine, and I couldn't be happier with either the quality of the Macbook or the customer service I received.
apple should at least give u a small gift, maybe in the form of an itunes card or coupon, to apologize for the inconvenience. that might not be music to the cfo's ear but it would be stupendous service.
They could also give you a free car and a trip to paris . Or how about letting apple provide great products at a great price and give them a break when they make a mistake every once in a while.
OK, so I bought a Macbook.
All's great for an hour. I installed my mighty mouse software and restart the PC. Then, I play around.... I pop in my iWork dvd to install it. In the middle of the install, the PC says that I need to restart the PC by touching the power button. I could tell that this was weird. So, when I go to turn it back on, I can hear fans, but no illuminated apple or display.
This is the FIRST DAY.... and it was a birthday gift.
I hope to God there is a fix.... because I have always thought of Apple as a top notch company. I don't want their image to be tarnished in my mind.
I'm pretty sure your HD just failed. That's what happenes when an HD dies. I remember i kicked over my old pc and th fans game on softly and started doing what your laptop did. Just go to applecare, you can't ix it yourself. They should give youa brand new machine.
Should we have a funeral for the dead HDD?
sounds an awful lot like a logic board issue, it'll sound like it's doing something but will not boot or show visuals on the display. that's what your warranty is for. call applecare - they arrange for shipping, you send it back and get a brand new one. then you'll be smiling.
with all the 3rd party parts in computers now, it's inevitable that you'll occasionally get a lemon.
good luck
It's in a happier place now...an apple store trash bin
They're sending me a new one, should be on it's way soon...plus I talked to a customer service representative and they credited me $60.00CAD for my troubles
