Here is the secret to making commission while working for Apple:

1. Work for Apple
2. Pay into your 401K
3. Invest your 401K in Apple stock
4. Work harder, faster, stronger, longer
5. Hope that your hard work pays off for Apple and the share price rises
6. ???
7. Profit!
8. Pray that Apple doesn't screw up or the market collapses, which as we all know is very very very unlikely because the market is extremely stable...

The only thing I notice that's distinguishes Apple retail employees apart from others is perhaps that they seem to be "better looking" on average...perhaps rivaled by the "makeup counter" employees. This may have something to do with the "fad" of working at Apple from a young hipster so they have the most applicants to choose from. And in sales, good looking ppl help make sales so.

I disagree I was in the Apple store right by my house, and the employee who helped me out had some gnarly looking teeth, and was kinda like a bean pole. He was very nice and quite helpful. Another person a woman who was working there was chubby, with a funky hairdo and thick rimmed glasses. I'd have to say in comparison to people working the "makeup counter" at the department store a few stores down, they didn't look much like alike at all.

Sounds like work harder and not smarter.. Retail is a DEAD END as far as I am concerned.. Sales in general I hate because of the added anxiety and depression + stress along with it. Its not the customers, its the fact you get paid close to min wage and no incentive. The days of retail are numbering as the internet is going to solidify this.
