So I guess i'll just walk into the apple store on the day its released, bring my debit card, and get an AT&T contract. Hopefully I can switch my verizon number over.

Thanks for the tips everyone! So basically I could use the credit card to pay my iphone bill and just pay the credit card bill? Hopefully the APR isn't bad on the credit card because than I would be paying more than the bill.

If you pay the balance of the credit card off in full right away, usually within 30 days of the statement coming out, or even BEFORE your statement comes out, then you shouldn't get hit with any interest charges. Read the fine print with the credit card you get to be sure.

Also: Look into online bill payment with your bank. Most people like to pay their bills online at the website of the credit card issuer (and at AT&T's website for their phone bill), but these people ignore the fact that they get a LOT more control over their bills if they use the (usually free) online bill payment service their own bank gives them. You just go to one website, you're not giving out your credit card number all over the place, and you decide exactly on what date the bill gets paid, not the credit card company, and not AT&T.

yeah I was looking into bill paying online. It's more convenient and I don't feel like writing checks but that is what my parents do. I wouldn't mind paying it online. Seems quick and simple.

A couple things as an FYI

1) AT&T doesn't report to credit agencies, unless you default. So having a stellar payment record won't show up like having a stellar payment record on a car or loan.

2) AT&T's credit check counts as a hard hit and will lower your credit score (probably around 5-10 points). Also, keep in mind that opening the credit card will also count as a hard hit.

3) If you open a credit card be sure to keep the balance as far away from the limit as possible (even if you pay it off every month). Somtimes card issuers lag when reporting payments to the credit bureaus and it will look like you have more out on the card than you really do. Having only one card and getting over 50% on it will look very bad to any company especially with so little history.

Yeah I talked to my parents about the credit card. Only put like 150 on it a month. That's all a kid my age needs at 19 is to be in debt and not even out of college yet. Well if I'm down 5-10 points it's no big deal because I don't even have a credit yet. So i'll see what happens come Late June early July whenever I get it on one of those days. Thanks!

I've sold some old stuff on ebay to pay for my iphone. Made 150 today alone. lol I know I have like 3 months but was just getting a head start. :D
